'BUSH STILL WANTS IRAQI "REGIME CHANGE"

'President Bush has rebuffed comments from King Abdullah of Jordan over the dangers of going to war with Iraq.

'In Washington, King Abdullah had said military action against Iraq would be a mistake, a view he said was shared by Prime Minister Tony Blair.

'But Mr Bush said he had not changed his opinions, and still wanted a "regime change" in Iraq.

A BBC correspondent said his comments wounded like a snub to the King.'

(BBC Ceefax, p.113)

'UN REJECTS JENIN "MASSACRE" CLAIMS

'... The UN [report] said 52 Palestinians, many civilians, and 23 Israeli soldiers had died during the occupation, in April.

'... But UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said while the facts were in dispute, it was clear the Palestinians in the West Bank town had suffered severely.'

(BBC Ceefax, 1 August 02, p.115)

--a commentator on BBC Newsnight ssaid that 70 - 80 Palestinians had died in Nablus at about the same time, mostly civilians, and only three or four Israeli soldiers.

'... Richard Butler told a US Senate committee Iraq had stepped up production [of weapons of mass destruction] over the past four years.

'But he said there was no evidence the information had been passed to non-Iraqi terrorist groups. ...'

(BBC Ceefax, 1 Aug 02, p.142)

Cf. 'In Assessing Iraq's Arsenal, The "Reality Is Uncertainty', Washington Post, 31 July 2002, p.A01.

The massive disinformation campaign now being run about 'crappy British matιriel' — the latest blast is from the National Audit Office, citing everything from broken-down tanks to melting boots in Oman 'last year' — suggests that British forces will play a major role in an Iraq attack.

I.e. we will be playing a major role in doing the US cabal's dirty work.

'SENATE BACKS BUSH'S DEFENCE CASH CALL

'The US Senate has approved [by a huge majority] a £21bn [$30bn] rise in defence spending, paving the way for the biggest expansion of the US military in two decades.

'The money was requested by President Bush for helicopters, cargo aircraft, four warships and a new artillery gun.

'There will also be a four per cent pay rise for all military personnel.

'But Senators did not approve a £6.25bn [$10bn] wartime contingency fund which Mr Bush would control.'

(BBC Ceefax at 2:30 a.m. BST, p.105)

Looks like the Senators are less of a "bunch of liberal commie faggots" than the redoubtable Col. Blitzenburger thought!

In what is effectively a murderer returning to the scene of his crime, George W Bush is to visit the sites where four hijacked airliners crashed on the first anniversary of Sept. 11. He can indeed celebrate the transition from Year Zero to Year One of "his" burgeoning despotism.

(From BBC Ceefax, 2 Aug 02, p.120)

'The FBI has asked senators to take lie detector tests as part of a probe into leaks of classified September 11 information.'

Their days are numbered!

Just let the Bushmob get the same treatment over who was behind Sept. 11.

Steve Hatfill is being made to fill the hat for the anthrax attacks again. Is he just a patsy, or perhaps one of the conspiracy-team who's nobly sacrificing himself as the 'loner misfit' of the FBI's bullshit-image?

See 'M[arylan]d. Home Searched In Probe of Anthrax', Washington Post, 2 Aug. 2002, p.A13; and 'Researcher Is Suspended During Probe Of Anthrax', Washington Post, 3 Aug. 2002, p.A03.

--Hatfill was at or near Fort Detrick, whhich only has the non-weaponized form of the Ames strain of anthrax (as far as we know). Why would a government-conspiracy bother to take it from there and weaponize it specially themselves? A weaponized (i.e. aerially-dispersable) form was already stored at the army's Dugway Proving Ground in Utah — and in a form identical with that actually sent to Democratic Senators last autumn. This is one reason I think Hatfill may be merely a patsy.

'Moscow is demanding that Georgia take action against Chechen rebels sheltering in the country's remote Pankisi Gorge.

'The French Le Monde notes that Moscow "threatened military intervention" against Tbilisi if it does nothing. ...'

'Russia's government daily Rossiyskaya Gazeta takes America to task for expressing support for Georgian sovereignty and territorial integrity. ...

'As the paper sees it, America is pursuing a dream of creating a "strategic outpost" in the Caucasus.'

(BBC Ceefax, p.147)

The Russian SVR (the KGB that changed its name and precious little else) was probably behind the attacks in the 1990s on Russian apartment blocks that were blamed on 'Chechen terrorists'. Russia is thus hardly in a position to complain when the US cabal's mega-version of the trick permits it to mosey into Uncle Ivan's former backyard 'in pursuit' of its staged al-Qaeda terrorists, and in reality to secure the borders of its projected oil empire. (America has sent several hundred special-force 'anti-terrorist' trainers to Georgia, no doubt to establish a toe-hold there.)

As for this becoming an Archduke Ferdinand-style spark-in-the-powder-keg: it takes two to make World War III, and it's hard to imagine Russia playing its part in such an event yet.

'FBI "CATCHES 7,000 BRITISH PAEDOPHILES"

'... Detectives have been given details of 7,272 Britons who used credit cards to access pictures of children having sex with adults, said the Sunday Telegraph.

'The two websites they were using have been seized by the FBI and their owners arrested, the paper said.

'Raids are now reportedly being planned by British detectives.'

(BBC Ceefax, p.141)

The US cabal is sinking its fangs-of-venom into Britain as surely as it is sinking them into the FBI, into the rest of America, and worldwide. Paedophile accusations are a potent, perhaps the most potent, toxin with which to discredit and destroy one's enemies, and in the future the cabal (or its successors) may employ this weapon to its full potential. We may speculate that already, among the ranks of targeted genuine paedophiles are anti-cabal oppositionists whom the cabal wants taken out — by way of a 'field experiment'. As of yet, it couldn't get away with fitting up whole swathes of people as child molesters. But we can look forward to the cabal's version of the Stalinist purges, when millions — or maybe even tens, or hundreds of millions — are disposed of by such methods. This will be the perfection of Stalinism. Or production-line Torquemada.

5 August 02

The Bush administration embarked on formulating a plan to "eliminate al-Qaeda" shortly after they took office in January 2001, but only completed and approved it exactly one week before September 11, said White House spokesman Sean McCormack.

(Scott Lindlaw, 'U.S. Defends Lengthy Al-Qaida Review', Washington Post online, 5 Aug. 2002)

Well well well! WHAT a coincidence! No doubt the real plan they (or rather their shadow-masters) completed and approved by that date was the one to kamikaze the World Trade Center and Pentagon (etc) in the name of al-Qaeda. Threatened with exposure by investigations, they are now concocting a phoney cover story as close to the truth as possible while still serving to divert attention from the truth.

Support for creating an 'Independent Sept. 11 Commission [is] Gaining Ground' (Washington Post online, 29 July 2002). This article also mentions a suggestion for the FBI to polygraph US Congressmen over leaks about intelligence failures regarding Sept. 11.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could look forward to the Bush administration being submitted to lie detector tests on the question of who was behind the Sept. 11 and anthrax attacks? And, say, CIA chief George Tenet and FBI director Robert Mueller as well. But even if they were, no genuine results would be allowed to be published.

Brent Snowcroft, US National Security Adviser to Bush senior during the Gulf War, has warned President Bush 'that invading Iraq would cause an "explosion" in the Middle East and consign the United States to defeat in its War on Terror'.

('Snowcroft Urges Restraint Against Iraq', Washington Post, 5 Aug. 2002, p.A04; London Times, 5 Aug. 2002, p.1)

Various prominent figures, in the US, UK and elsewhere, have issued warnings against the same in recent days.

'700 WEAPONS [and 400 laptops] MISSING FROM US DEPARTMENT

'The US Justice Department is reviewing its security procedures after admitting more than 700 weapons and 400 laptop computers have gone missing.

'The items, mostly belonging to the FBI[!!], disappeared between autumn 1999 and this year, an internal audit revealed.

'Two of the guns were subsequently used in armed robberies and a third became a murder weapon.

'Many of the computers are said to contain classified information.'

(BBC Ceefax, p.119)

This looks like another round of cabalistic FBI-bashing, the better to break down its old structures and reformulate it as a cabalistic puppet. But "loss of classified information" is an old disinformation trick of the British secret services (amongst others, no doubt). The US cabal, in true American style, is evidently reconfiguring this trick to mass production.

British Channel 4 news (7 p.m.) had a story on the 'mystery' of the Airbus crash on Queens, New York, 2 months after the Sept. 11 attacks. It said the NTSL tried to brush off the 'accident' with some hasty 'explanation'. It interviewed someone from Vanity Fair who had surveyed pilots' internet discussions and raised questions about the incident.

The problem with Vanity Fair is that it has been a mouthpiece for cabalistic Iraq-attack propaganda; it is hardly impartial. It seemed fairly obvious to me that the Airbus crash was another of the cabal-concocted terror attacks, designed to brush up on the terror of the original attacks. But the 'other side' in the power struggle immediately passed it off as an accident, in order to keep their national rivals' plot-mongering from becoming public and causing immense damage to the US body politic.

Fat hope! What happened on September 11 (and its 'follow-ups') represented, enacted, and symbolized a fundamental transition in the historical path of Western civilization:- the victory of the rule of 'force-politics' over that of 'money'.

'USA[:] Saudi Arabia is an enemy of the US and should be warned to halt "support" for terrorism or face seizure of its oil fields [my emphasis], analysts told the Pentagon.' (ITV Teletext, 6 Aug 02, p.118)

See Thomas E. Ricks, 'Briefing Depicted Saudis as Enemies', Washington Post, 6 Aug. 2002, p.A01. The briefing was presented on 10 July to the Defense Policy Board, which advises the Pentagon. It was by Laurent Murawiec, an analyst on the Rand Corporation, 'the oldest US think-tank'. His lecture described Saudi Arabia as "the kernel of evil, the prime mover, the most dangerous opponent" in the Middle East (apparently for its alleged support of "Islamic" terrorist movements). He 'recommended that U.S. officials give [the country] an ultimatum to stop backing terrorism or face seizure of its oil fields ...'.

[Well, here it is, the unsubtle agenda laid bare in all its tawdry glory.]

'Of the two dozen people who attended the Defense Policy Board meeting, only one, former secretary of state Henry A. Kissinger [my emphasis], spoke up to object to the anti-Saudi conclusions of the briefing ...'.

The Machiavellian Dr Kissinger was the very person who, as that self-same Secretary of State, blustered about seizing Saudi oil fields after the OPEC oil-price hikes of 1973. (This was not a practical proposition during the Cold War era.) Since that time he has evidently learned some subtlety; but (since he was the only "dissenting voice" at the Defense Board briefing) evidently not that much: he stood out like a sore thumb, getting his name in the public eye in connection with the matter.

'SAUDI ARABIA IS NOT OUR ENEMY, SAYS US

'A defence briefing that implied Saudi Arabia was an enemy of the US was "harmful", defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld has admitted.

'The Washington Post said a briefing by analyst Laurent Murawiec referred to Saudi Arabia as a "kernel of evil".

'But Rumsfeld said the briefing "did not represent the views of the government".

'"Clearly somebody decided it was a good idea to take something that was potentially controversial," he said [and leak it to the media, presumably].'

(BBC Ceefax, 6 Aug 02, p.118)

See 'Views Aired In Briefing On Saudis Disavowed', Washington Post, 7 Aug. 2002, p.A14

We don't seem to have had a strong denial from Rumsfeld, only some more vague, blustering, rambling chatter. 'Rumsfeld, speaking at [the] Pentagon ..., called the publication ... in yesterday's Washington Post "unfortunate". [Indeed it was, for him and his ilk!] He went on to attack the unidentified person who leaked the briefing, saying, "I just think it's a terribly unprofessional thing to do and clearly harmful."' On the contrary, we owe this person a debt of thanks.

Rumsfeld (still speaking at the Pentagon) also referred to the Israeli "so-called" occupation of the West Bank; which shows which side his bread is buttered. 'CRUDE LIES OVER IRAQ: BENN

'Veteran [British] left-winger Tony Benn has accused Britain and America of "utter hypocrisy and crude lies" to justify a war against Iraq.

'The retired Labour MP said a US threat of war was motivated by its desire to gain control of Iraqi oil rather than concern over weapons or human rights.

'"We are on the eve of a war of a terrifying kind," he said.'

(ITV Teletext, 6 Aug 02, p.309)

Better late than never with these remarks, Wedgie.

'NAMING CEREMONY TO MARK SEPT 11 TRAGEDY

'Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani will read out the names of those killed in the September 11 terrorist attacks to mark their first anniversary.

'Announcing the city's plans, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said the remembrance would be "simple and powerful."

'A moment's silence at 8.46am will mark a year to the minute that the first jet flew into World Trade Centre.

'Families of the dead will then lay roses at the footprint of the towers.'

(BBC Ceefax, 6 Aug 02, p.124)

Imagine a leading Nazi official reading out the names of those murdered at Belsen, say, and condemning the "allied bombing" that was "responsible" for their deaths. What kind of people are you, Americans, that you will tolerate this? The detritus of a once-great civilization?

8 August 02

'USA[:] New York police officers are set to stage a wildcat strike on September 11 in a dispute over pay, say reports.' (ITV Teletext, p.318)

Is the level of pay really all the strike is about?

9 August 02

The newly-inaugurated new-right president Uribe of Colombia, recovering from guerrilla two-fingered bombing attacks in Bogota (which killed at least 13 people) has announce the formation of a national 'million-man militia' of civilian informants against the guerrillas He previously tried this experiment in the province of which he was governor, and some of the informers went on to form the right-wing death squads.

(BBC News 24 at 3 a.m.)

Uribe is no doubt supported in this move by his US backers, who have already put forward their own version in the USA — Operation TIPS.

A mass organization of informers, based in and part of society at large, is perhaps one of the things that distinguish a police society (aka totalitarian state) from a police state. Whereas in the latter there is an organization over and above society, spying on and oppressing it, in the former, society in large degree spies on itself.

'Pentagon adviser Richard Perle [head of the notorious Defense Policy Board, see above, 6 August] writes in The Daily Telegraph that the US would be prepared to act alone on Iraq.

'But he adds reservations in [the British] Cabinet and among [Parliamentary] backbenchers "will not hold Tony Blair back".'

(BBC Ceefax, 9 August 02, p.148)

--It's in fact a matter of controversy ass to what Tony Blair's private, as opposed to public, opinion is on an Iraq attack. Some say he privately opposes it. One wonders why he should be publicly so enthusiastically supporting the US cabal's stance, in that case.

Iraqi opposition groups met together and with US government officials in Washington. Spokesman Hamid al-Bayati said they sensed the US government was more serious and committed about overthrowing Saddam Hussein. Tomorrow (Saturday) opposition figures are due to talk with US Vice-President Dick Cheney via video link to his Wyoming home.

The cabal seems to be succeeding in cobbling up another 'democratic' puppet government (as it did for Afghanistan), this time to run its prospective keystone oil-empire province of Iraq. Oil man Cheney is evidently important in this process.

10 August 02

COLOMBIAN MORTAR ATTACK WAS "IRA STYLE"

'The mortar bombing during the Colombian President's inauguration ceremony bore the hallmarks of an IRA attack, security chiefs in the country have said.

'They insist [!] there is a clear link between IRA tactics and the latest urban offensive by Farc rebels.

'Nineteen people died in Wednesday's attack with home-made mortars in Bogota ...'

(BBC Ceefax, p.142)

The new-right Colombian proteges of the US cabal are fulfilling their mentor's desire to broaden the "imperial terror-excuse" campaign as much as possible, to broaden the cabal's empire-building opportunities as much as may be.

'No 10 "HACKED INTO BBC COMPUTER"

'Downing Street staff hacked into BBC computers in a bid to influence news reports critical of the government, a senior correspondent has claimed.

'Foreign correspondent John Simpson said the BBC was telephoned by officials in an attempt to tone down reports before they were even broadcast.

'Downing Street dismissed the claims as "complete rubbish" and "utter drivel".

(ITV Teletext, 10 August 02, p.306; this story appears in the Sunday Telegraph, 11 August)

11 August 02

Dr Steven Hatfill, the (ex) US government scientist on whom there has been much media speculation, called a news conference to deny that he had anything to do with the anthrax mail attacks of last autumn. He said that he had never worked with anthrax. The BBC news report noted that he had a storage facility in Florida, the state where the first anthrax attack fatality occurred.

'... Describing himself as the "designated fall guy", [Hatfill] said the [FBI] investigation had reduced his life to a "wasteland". ... "I am a loyal American and I love my country. I am extremely proud of the work I have done for the United States and my people. I had nothing to do with the anthrax letters ..." ... "I am appalled at the heinous acts of biological terrorism [of last autumn] ..." ...

'In February 1999 Mr Hatfill commissioned a study of how an anthrax attack might play itself out when he was working for the defence and CIA contractor Science Applications International Corp (SIA). The findings were strikingly similar to the real attacks.

'In 2000 he applied for a job at the CIA, but failed a lie detector test, leading to a suspension of his Pentagon security clearance and the loss of his job with SIA.'

(London Times, 12 Aug. 2002, p.12)

I believe Hatfill was suspended in August 2001 (just before the Sept. 11 attacks). Perhaps the intra-government clique responsible for the terror attacks, drew upon Hatfill's proposed scenario for the anthrax attacks, then (on the eve of Sept. 11) prepared the ground to stitch him up for them.

On the question of the 'shadow masters' behind the Bush front-administration, I have just seen an interesting posting on the Usenet (on soc.culture.lebanon), entitled 'Who is formulating American Foreign policy in the Middle East?' (posted 29 April 2002). It lists various government officials and advisers, emphasising their pro-Israeli positions. It includes Richard Perle, a Bush foreign policy adviser and chairman of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board, and states that he was expelled from office in the 1970s after passing Highly-Confidential documents to the Israeli Embassy. The Defense Policy Board recently approved a briefing condemning Saudi Arabia as a 'kernel of evil' and (apparently) suggesting seizing its oil fields if it didn't 'desist from supporting terrorism'. There was one dissenting voice on the Board:

Henry Kissinger, who preferred to go on public record saying that he considered Saudi Arabia an ally. The posting also mentions Kissinger, saying 'He consistently advocates bombing Iraq' (a characteristic shared with other people on the list). 'Kissinger had a part in the Watergate crimes, Southeast Asia mass murders, Chile dictatorship ... Kissinger is the Ariel Sharon of the U.S.'

12 August 02

'USA[:] Washington may deploy troops in foreign countries without the local government's knowledge, reports said.' (ITV Teletext, p.318)

The whole world is becoming Uncle Cabal's Backyard.

Newly-inaugurated new-right President Uribe of Colombia has declared a nationwide state of emergency in the country after the 'inaugural wave' of terrorist attacks. In addition to his civilian army of informers, he is bringing in arbitrary arrest and telephone tapping.

Colombia too can be a laboratory for the USA.

The London Times surveys Russian newspapers' hostile comments on Georgia's alleged sheltering of 'Chechen terrorists'. The Times surmises 'But for one large complicating factor, one would assume from all this that the Russians are laying the ground for a full-scale assault, and there have already been reports of Russian special forces making forays into Georgian territory. ... That one large complicating factor, however, is the United States, which has sent military trainers to Georgia to help the country's armed forces to root out the Chechen rebels themselves. [Last I heard, it was to root out the intangible but ubiquitous al-Qaeda.] The prospect of Russian troops coming into conflict with Americans or their allies has so far helped in keeping this particular cold war from going hot.'

(Robert Shepherd, 'US role confines ...', London Times, 12 August 02, p.8)

Epitomising the fact that Soviet imperialism's day is done, but America's (as yet we lack a word comparable to 'Nazi' or 'Soviet') is just beginning.

'US AND IRAQI OPPOSITION DISCUSS FUTURE

'Principles of a "new Iraq" without Saddam Hussein have been agreed by US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Iraqi opposition leaders.

'Following the meeting, Mr Rumsfeld said they had reached "broad agreement" on a post-Saddam Hussein regime.

'He said a new Iraq should be a single country that "would not impose its will on its neighbours". [At least Rumbo's good for a laugh.]

'Mr Rumsfeld said the Iraqis spoke with Vice-President Dick Cheney via video'

(BBC Ceefax, p.114)

SUICIDE ATTEMPTS AT GUANTANAMO BAY JAIL

'At least 30 al-Qaeda and Taleban suspects held by the US have tried to commit suicide at the Guantanamo Bay naval base in Cuba, doctors there say.

'Some 598 men, including six Britons, are being held at the camp said military authorities viewed the suicide bids as a sign of remorse. ['Suicide attempts' were said to include banging their heads against walls and slamming their fists into walls.]

'A BBC correspondent said human rights groups were increasingly questioning the legal basis of the detentions.'

(BBC Ceefax at 1 a.m. BST, p.106)

The 'suicide attempts' may be rather a response to the inhuman treatment the prisoners are getting, and/or an excuse for injuries inflicted on them by the warders.

'CLASH AS VENEZUELA COUP CHARGES DROPPED'

(BBC Ceefax, 15 August 02 at 3 a.m, p.116)

'SAUDIS SUED OVER TERROR CLAIM

'Relatives of September 11 victims have launched a trillion dollar lawsuit accusing members of the Saudi royal family of helping to finance al-Qaeda.

'Three Saudi princes are named in the ... lawsuit filed by more than 600 family members in Washington DC.

'Seven banks, eight charities and the government of Sudan have also been accused of bankrolling al-Qaeda.'

(ITV Teletext, 15 August 02, p.307)

No doubt the US oil-lusting cabal is behind this device. It is certainly one more weapon in the Saudi-bashing arsenal. Perhaps the cabal will expect the Saudis to pay by handing over their oil fields, which will then be 'kept in trust' by the US government or its designated puppet. The cabal's cynical use of the WTC victims' families, adding to the members whom they have already murdered, illustrates the cabal's total dehumanization.

'ISRAEL READIES FOR IRAQ ATTACK

'Israel has begun vaccinating against smallpox and will give anti-radiation pills to the public as fears grow of attack by Iraq if the US goes to war.

'So far 700 health workers have been inoculated while up to 150,000 more, including police, ambulance workers and hospital staff, may also get the jabs.

'Officials have made it clear that if Iraq attacks Israel it will retaliate.'

(ITV Teletext, 15 August 02, p.309)

It looks like the US cabal IS intending to unleash smallpox (and/or other diseases), and blame it on Iraq.

Perhaps Israel will get a cut of the prospective US oil empire, though not too large a one, in return for its support.

'IRAN[:] Members of a rebel movement claim the government is building two secret sites to support its nuclear arms programme.'

The Mujahedin-e-Khalq, perhaps? Are they too jockeying for position as minions of the oil empire?

The 'British Financial Services Authority has et up a secret "nerve centre" a short distance from its Canary Wharf base', in order 'to minimuse disruption in the event of a September 11-style attack on the City'. (BBC Ceefax, 15 August, p.119)

16 August 02

'Residents in Holly Wells' and Jessica Chapman's home town have been urged to turn detective, to help police find the 10-year-olds' abductor. [These two vanished nearly two weeks ago; ther is still no proof that they were abducted; their case has received maximum media coverage.]

'DCI [Detective Chief Inspector] Andy Hebb told a packed public meeting at Soham that past cases indicated the solution was most likely to be found in the Cambridgeshire town.

'"Look at the behaviour of your friends, relatives, neighbours, anything.

'"Are they doing anything differently? That's the important thing," he said. [He also said the local popluation should be "vigilant".]

(BBC Ceefax at 2:30 a.m, p.105)

Hebb's language is that of the totalitarian state. He seems to be following in the footsteps of the American aspirants of the police state.

It seems the world is "spontaneously" transforming into police society. Cf. Japan, Colombia.

But is a field experiment, a "pilot scheme" being carried out for the whole of Britain in little Soham? Here too the annihilating "paedophile weapon" is (apparently) to be employed.

'Blood samples given to young children [under 6] are to be imported from the US to cut the risk of transmitting the human form of mad cow disease, the Government said. ...' (Ibid., p.109)

The trial of the "twentieth hijacker", Zacarias Moussaoui, has been postponed from September to January. Moussaoui's own "stand-in" lawyers made the request, on grounds of "complexity of evidence".

FBI'S COUNTER-TERRORISM CHIEF PURGED

Dale Watson, the FBI counter-terrorism chief who had the bad taste to say that he believed Osama bin Laden was dead (see July diary, under 18 July), has resigned. Watson was responsible for the investigations into the September 11 and anthrax attacks. 'His departure comes during a big reorganization of the bureau's executive posts after its failure to predict the September 11 hijackings. ... Congressional officials who monitor the FBI said they were surprised by the timing of Mr Watson's departure because he was still well regarded by senior colleagues. ...In announcing Mr Watson's departure, Robert Mueller, the FBI director said that no replacement had been chosen. But Mr Mueller, who in eight months has replaced a string of senior agents and made 48 executive appointments [my emphasis], said that he had appointed Bruce Gebhardt as the new deputy director. Mr Gebhardt, who worked closely with the FBI director in the 1990s when Mr Mueller was the US attorney for California, will oversee counter-intelligence and terrorism prevention.

(Tim Reid, 'FBI chief who upset Bush "retires"', London Times, 17 Aug 2002)

Bin Laden is the jewel-in-the-crown of the US cabal's excuse to set up a Middle Eastern oil empire. Honest Dale Watson's mild piece of resistance gave cabal-agent Mueller the excuse he needed for his biggest individual purging so far. Up to last May Mueller had purged one-quarter of the FBI's senior executives ('FBI Director to Propose "Super Squad" for Terror', Washington Post, 15 May 2002, p.A01), and more have no doubt been removed since then. Criticisms of 'security failures' by FBI agents such as Rowley, while probably genuine, have been used as a pretext for reshaping the FBI into a centralized monstrosity which will form part of the cabal's projected police state. Assuming the FBI isn't subsumed altogether into the Homeland Defense Department.

Pakistan sent a team of anti-terrorism experts to interview the 58 Pakistanis held by the US at Guantanamo in Cuba. Its questioning 'revealed that many were ordinary people who had gone to fight for the Taleban in Afghanistan', 'not hardcore al-Qaeda members', said the Pakistani interior minister. Pakistan has requested their release.

'RUSSIA TO SIGN IRAQ PACT

'Russia is to sign a £25bn economic and trade pact with Iraq, a move that could hit US plans to tackle Saddam Hussein.

'Parliament adviser Oleg Buklemeshev has said the deal will focus on oil, energy and infrastructure and will not violate UN sanctions imposed on Iraq in 1990.,

'The US has stuck to its intended policy of "regime change", claiming Saddam is building weapons of mass destruction.'

(ITV Teletext, p.307)

I came across a web page which says that, after the OPEC oil embargo started in 1973-74, the USA drew up a contingency plan to seize oil fields. A 'document entitled "Oil Fields as Military Objectives: A Feasibility Study," was prepared for the Committee on Foreign Relations by the Congressional Research Service of the Library of Congress, and is dated August 21, 1975'. The report concluded that, although an invasion Middle Eastern oil countries would likely meet with Soviet counter-intervention, and there would be difficulties in Nigeria because the oil fields there are in population centres, it would be feasible to occupy Venezuela and milk its oil.

< See 'The Oil Wars: and the ones that almost happened'. (This web page was evidently written in 1991.)

Nowadays, with the Soviet Union knocked out as a Cold War adversary, an occupation of the Middle Eastern oil countries might seem more feasible. Thought there's no militant OPEC action now, petroleum resources are (allegedly) dwindling, and for the world's greatest gas-guzzler, there's nothing like 'securing the future'.

Of course, Russia still holds much of the old Soviet nuclear arsenal and, even in its 'defeated' state, can't be pushed around too far. So why not cook up an 'Islamic terrorist' threat' and even stage a massive terrorist attack (viz. September 11) to provide the excuse to invade?

'VIDEOTAPES REVEAL AL-QAEDA GAS TESTS

'An archive of al-Qaeda videotapes has shed light on the inner workings of the terrorist network, the US TV channel CNN reports.

'The 64 tapes span more than a decade and show terrorist training tactics and chemical gas experiments on dogs.

''Experts say the tests show al-Qaeda may have more sophisticated chemical weapons capability than eralier thought.

'The tape, some of which show Osama Bin Laden, were recovered from Afghanistan.'

(BBC Ceefax at 5 a.m BST, p.108)

The CIA has had nearly a year to fake up videos, using mainly genuine al-Qaeda videos as the 'raw material'. The right-wing CNN is used as a shop-window for its wares. 'US AIDE SAYS EUROPE IS IRRELEVANT ON IRAQ

'A senior Pentagon adviser has said the US would not need the support of European allies other than Britain to launch a military attack on Iraq.

'Richard Perle, chaiman of the Pentagon Defence Policy Board, said the Bush administration would rely on help from the UK and dissident groups within Iraq.

'European allies other than Britain "are just not relevant to this", he told ABC.

'Other European nations "look the other way or cut deals with Saddam", he added.'

(BBC Ceefax, 19 August 02 at 5 a.m BST, p.109)

'USA[:] President Bush will explain the reasons behind military action on Iraq if US forces are sent to topple Saddam Hussein, a White House aide has said.' (ITV Teletext, 19 August 02 at 5 a.m BST, p.318)

'US AIDE SAYS EUROPE IRRELEVANT ON IRAQ

'A senior Pentagon adviser has said the US would not need the support of European allies other than Britain to launch a military attack on Iraq.

'Richard Perle, chairman of the Pentagon Defence Policy Board, said the Bush administration would rely on help from the UK and dissident groups within Iraq.

'European allies other than Britain "are just not relevant to this", he told ABC.

'Other European nations "look the other way or cut deals with Saddam", he added.'

(BBC Ceefax, 19 August 02 at 5 a.m, p.109)

A giant Russian military helicopter crashed in a minefield in Chechnya. It was carrying over 100 people, far more than its recommended payload (apparently a normal practice). Most or all of those on board were killed. The Chechens say they shot it down. The Russians first claimed it was a technical fault (engine on fire), but later admitted it had been hit by a missile (a discarded launcher was found nearby).

This is one 'fatal helicopter accident' that has quickly been resolved as due to hostile action.

The US 'wants an investigation' of hundreds of Taleban and/or al-Qaeda prisoners-of-war in Northern Afghanistan late last year. Up to 960 were suffocated on sealed trucks 'in transit' from north-west Afghanistan to Kunduz in the north-east. Trenches have been excavated and bodies discovered. Dostum, the Northern Alliance butcher, was in supreme charge of the prisoners. The deaths appear to be related to the notorious Qala-e-Jangi massacre north of Mazar-e-Sharif, also under Dostum, in which American and British forces were involved (and which was so neatly whitewashed by the CNN/Channel 4 documentary recently). No evidence of American involvement has (yet) appeared in this latest exposure. Dostum worked with the Soviets during their occupation of Afghanistan, and was renowned for running over PoWs with tanks.

Fifty would-be Middle-eastern immigrants were suffocated in a sealed lorry in transit from France to Britain. Perhaps this is where the idea came from.

CNN has obtained an archive of 64 videotapes "from Afghanistan" which cover ten years and show al-Qaeda training exercises, etc. Footage includes dogs being gassed, apparently by "chemical weapons". Experts say the tapes appear genuine. The US administration has said these tapes justify the 'war on terror'.

Israel says it is withdrawing from Bethlehem as part of a security deal with Palestinians. But its forces will remain around the city, and they continue to incurse at will.

The US military has begun stockpiling weapons in the Persian Gulf for an attack on Iraq, and has hired 10 cargo ships to carry tanks, helicopters etc, US defence officials said.

A US military build-up in the region has in fact long been evident. Months ago Central Command shifted its forward HQ from Saudi Arabia to Qatar.

20 August 02

German police and/or special forces have stormed the Iraqi embassy in Berlin, ending a five-hour occupation by the "Democratic Iraqi Opposition of Germany" -- a previously unheard-of group. The group had taken the Iraqi charge-d'affaires, his successor and two others hostage. No-one was seriously hurt.

In a BBC TV interview, a representative of the Iraqi National Congress (the main opposition group) sounded very understanding of this group. (The INC officially condemned the action.) The Iraqi regime called the incident an "act of terror" and blamed it on "American and Zionist [presumably Israeli] security forces".

A member of the unheard-of DIOC on Qatari al-Jazeera TV praised the "liberation" of a piece of Iraqi territory (it was a brief one!). He said that the embassy was a spy centre (as are other Iraqi embassies) and that Germany was riddled with Iraqi agents.

This incident could have been staged by the US cabal to embarrass Germany, and possibly sway the result of the upcoming election. Germany, currently run by the Social Democrats, says it won't support an American invasion of Iraq. The US said that American and British planes had attacked an Iraqi air defence command post south-east of Baghdad, 'in response to recent Iraqi hostilities against [US] planes'. (BBC Ceefax, p.119)

21 August 02

'CANADA[:] The country is unlikely to join US-led military action against Iraq unless stronger evidence shows up, the defence minister John McCallum said.' (ITV Teletext at 2:30 a.m. BST, p.318)

Sorry, Canada's too small for the CIA's agitprop boys to get their fingers out.

'F[inancial ]T[imes :] Disgruntled Saudis have pulled tens of billions of dollars out of the US, signalling a deep alienation.' (Ibid., p.326)

And this could be a harbinger of a stock market crash (like the Japanese withdrawal from US bonds in late summer 1987).

'[British] POLICE HELD IN [FBI-sponsored] CHILD PORN PROBE

'Two police officers have been arrested as part of a massive FBI probe into child pornography on the internet.

'FBI agents tapped into US websites containing indecent images of children and sent a list of suspected British subscribers to UK police forces.

'The officers, one from Sussex and one from north London, have both been suspended from duty and are on bail.'

(ITV Teletext, 21 August 02, p.305)

And you can bet it's a "Muellerised" section of the FBI that's running this scheme.

Is it a sign of the times that BBC Ceefax has taken off its foreign media digest on page 143? Is this the beginning of an Iraq-attack and police-state blackout of foreign (i.e. still-independent) news media?

'BUSH MEETING SECURITY AND DEFENCE TEAMS

'President Bush is meeting his senior defence and security advisers to discuss military planning and strategy.

'White House officials say the talks, at Mr Bush's ranch in Texas, are not intended to discuss action against Iraq.

'However, a BBC correspondent said the meeting will discuss changing military priorities in the wake of September 11.

'US General Tommy Franks said earlier that he was drawing up plans for possible military action against Iraq.'

(BBC Ceefax, 21 August 02, p.114)

22 August 02

'RUSSIA[:] President Vladimir Putin is to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Il whose country US President George Bush has said is part of an "axis of evil". (ITV Teletext, p.318)

Cf. the recent Russo-Iraqi "trade pact" (above, under 18 August). Russia appears to be limbering up on the opposite side to America's axis of aggrandisement.

Yesterday's ABC News Tonight said that, while America had a "cheap" Iraq war in 1991 (80% of the costs were paid by her allies), this time round she may be paying 80% or 90% (due to lack of outside support)-- $50bn - $100bn (?).

Such a war will be a long-term investment.

President Bush, in Runner magazine, said one of the saddest things about being President is that he cannot run more often. (Ibid.)

How's that for a psychological slip? Maybe Dubya will fix it to be President for life.

Pakistan claims to have repelled an incursion by Indian troops across the Kashmir dividing line, killing dozens of Indian troops. India has 'denied absolutely' that its troops made any such incursion.

A joint US-Russian team has removed 100lb of enriched uranium from a lab in Belgrade, with the co-operation of the Yugoslav government, to stop it from falling into the hands of terrorists. The US will help finance retrieval from 16 further former Soviet allies to whom Moscow had supplied enriched uranium: North Korea, China, Libya, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Romania, Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Syria, Vietnam, Latvia and Bulgaria.

'A recent report by Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government in Washington said that there were 345 operating or idle research reactors in 58 [other] countries which had highly enriched uranium that could be converted for use in a weapon by terrorists.'

(Michael Evans, The Times, 24 August 02, p.1)

The above list of 16 contains three 'evil axis' members (North Korea, Libya, Syria); China, which the US cabal is trying to target via North Korea, Taiwan etc; and the Ukraine, which the cabal is targeting through allegations that it is supplying missiles to Iraq.

The 58 countries coincide pretty neatly in number with the 60-odd countries which the US government alleges have serious problems with al-Qaeda infiltration. Are they broadly the same countries, and are these the general targets of cabalistic empire-formation?

'US TERROR SUSPECT ALLEGES MISTREATMENT

'a man detained as a terrorist suspect in the US after the September 11 attacks has told the BBC that he was beaten and held for months in isolation.

'Nabil al-Marab, one of 1,200 people arrested in a US round-up, says he went on hunger strike five times in protest.

'He is due to be sentenced for a minor border violation.

'US officials have said all detainees are treated fairly but have pledged to take the allegations seriously.'

(BBC Ceefax, 24 August 02, p.109)

'US GIVES WARNING TO RUSSIA OVER GEORGIA

'The US has warned Russia against escalating tensions with Georgia after civilians were reported to have been killed in Russian air strikes.

'The White House said it "deplores the violation of Georgia's sovereignty".

'Bombing is reported to have taken place at the Pankisi Gorge close to Chechnya, where Russian military sources claimed some 250 Chechen rebels were massed.

'Russian later urged Georgia to "disarm" and "hand over" rebels on its territory.'

(BBC Ceefax, 24 August 02)

'PAKISTANIS HELD IN CUBA "NOT AL-QAEDA"

'Pakistani anti-terror experts believe that 55 of the 58 Pakistani nationals being held by the US in Cuba have no links to al-Qaeda and should be freed.

'A government minister has presented the recommendation for their release to visiting US envoy Richard Armitage.

'Pakistani President Musharraf is expected to call for the men to be freed on a visit to the US next month.

'Almost 600 al-Qaeda and Taleban suspects are being held at the base.'

(BBC Ceefax, 24 August 02, p.122)

Even the cabal's hitherto-faithful lapdog Britain is now letting them down. Foreign Secretary Jack Straw says that it would make a difference if Iraq were to accept UN arms inspectors back.

'SAUDI ARABIA[:] Sa[ ]d Abdulaziz Saud al-Rasheed — accused by the US over links to the September 11 hijackers — has been detained, his father has said.

(ITV Teletext, 24 August 02, p.318)

British Master of the Rolls, Lord Donaldson, has warned against vigilante attacks if the News of the World Sunday paper presses ahead with its campaign to 'name and shame' convicted paedophiles. (BBC Ceefax, 24 August 02, p.141)

25 August 02

'SUNDAY TELEGRAPH[:] Palestinian terrorist Abu Nidal was murdered on the orders of Saddam Hussein after refusing to train al-Qaeda fighters based in Iraq.'

'Saddam also wanted [Nidal] to carry out attacks against the US, the paper reported.'

(ITV Teletext, p.326; BBC Ceefax, p.142)

Nice one! And this happened — now?

Here's another good one, which may be evidence that the CIAgitprop boys are still hard at work earning their bread (or simply of paranoia):-

'CHEMICALS "AT SAUDI AFGHAN CHARITY HQ"

'Afghan authorities have found 16 different kinds of chemical in sealed containers in a house in Kabul. [Sodium chloride, hydrogen peroxide, or what?]

'The premises were previously home to a Saudi Arabia-based charity whose assets were frozen by the US on the basis that it may be backing al-Qaeda.

'The International Security Assistance Force in Kabul said it was aware of the find and in touch with investigators.

'It is not yet known if anyone has been arrested over the discovery.'

(BBC Ceefax, 25 August 02, p.142)

Anyone found any angels impaled on bayonets yet?

'The Sunday Times reports that the Saudi royal family paid al-Qaeda £200m to avoid being a target for attacks.

'The claim comes in court documents filed in a lawsuit in the US, the paper goes on tho explain.'

(BBC Ceefax, 25 August 02, p.148)

Likely the lawsuit where 9/11 victims' families are suing Saudi royals, etc, over the attacks.

'IRAQ SAYS "EIGHT KILLED" IN AIR STRIKES

'Eight people were killed and nine wounded when Western coalition planes bombed targets in southern Iraq[, Basra province], according to the Iraqi military.

'Britain and the US said coalition planes had attacked Iraqi radar after they came under threat, but declined to say whose aircraft were involved.

'The US added that "target battle damage assessment' was still going on. ...'

(BBC Ceefax, 25 August 02, p.115)

The BBC Ceefax quotations page (p.146) has the following Bushquote (presum. from Runner magazine):-

'"It's sad that I can't run longer. It's one of the saddest things about the presidency"[:] President George Bush on his love of jogging'

This psychoslip can be added to his other famous quote, 'if this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator'!

26 August 02

'DOCTOR [Hatfill again] DENIES BEING US ANTHRAX KILLER

'a biological warfare expert suspected of involvement in last year's anthrax attacks in the US has insisted he did not send the contaminated letters.

'Dr Steven Hatfill, from Maryland, has been publicly linked to the investigation by the Attorney General [John Ashcroft].

'[Hatfill lashed out at Ashcroft,] said his life "was being destroyed" and added: "I am not the anthrax killer".

'He has agreed to supply blood and handwriting samples to the FBI.'

(BBC Ceefax at 3 a.m. BST, p.109)

Ashcroft's public statement means that Hatfill is now the official patsy. Apart from being an innocent victim set up by the cabal's anthrax-attack team, another possibility is that Hatfill was a member of this team, and has 'heroically' agreed to play the role of the 'loner' of the FBI's mythology, to cover for the rest.

AL-QAEDA CELLS WAITING TO STRIKE — US [Tom Ridge]

'Al-Qaeda cells are still operating in the US and waiting to strikes, the US's homeland security director has warned.

'Tom Ridge said a number of planned attacks had been thwarted by law enforcement agencies since September 11, but would not give further details.

'He admitted there were still glaring weaknesses in security that terrorists could easily exploit.

'Ports and airports remained areas of concern, Mr Ridge told the BBC.'

(BBC Ceefax, 26 August 02, p.109)

--And when asked why there had been no atttack since Sept. 11 lat year, Ridge replied that it was because they were still planning another — BIG ONE (as he inferred; like Sept. 11). Ever to maintain his credentials as a master of terror and suspense, in the cabalistic tradition. Hollywood made flesh, as you might say.

James Baker, Bush senior's secretary of state, has added his voice to the Republican Old Guard, warning the administration not to attack Iraq without a UN Security Council resolution for it — something it is most unlikely to get, it seems, with Russia's articulating opposition.

'CHENEY WARNS OF "INACTION RISK" ON IRAQ

'Containment is no longer an option in dealing with Saddam Hussein, US Vice-President Dick Cheney has said.

'He told army veterans [!] in Nashville that leaving the Iraqi leader in power would only make him more dangerous.

'Saddam already possessed chemical and biological weapons [so that's decided, now!] and was determined to add nuclear arms, Mr Cheney insisted.

'"Time is not on our side--- The risks of inaction are far greater than the risks of action."'

(BBC Ceefax, 26 August 02, p.114)

In the face of growing opposition, the cabal continues to appeal to the armed forces. This is a Frankenstein monster that just as well turn on its cultivators as help them.

27 August 02

'Bush finds legal loophole for attack on Iraq

'White House lawyers have told President Bush that he can invade Iraq without the approval of Congress, a legal opinion that could lead to a show-down on Capitol Hill next month.

'The advice, given to the President by Alberto Gonzales, the White House counsel, this month, was leaked to The Washington Post. It is a clear ploy by the Bush Administration to give itself the option of bypassing Congress if it appears likely that it would refuse to sanction an invasion of Iraq.

'Mr Gonzales has told Mr Bush that permission for an attack on President Saddam Hussein remains in force from the 1991 congressional resolution that gave his father authority for the Gulf War, an opinion hotly contested in Washington yesterday. ...

'Whatever the President decides, many House and Senate members are determined to force a full debate and subsequent vote authorising an attack on Iraq because they consider the issue too important for Congress to be ignored. ...'

(Tim Reid, The Times, 27 August 02, p.12)

Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak has warned against attacking Iraq, saying it is unnecessary, will kill many innocent people, and will destabilize the whole Middle East (BBC Ceefax, 27 August 02, p.105). -- Not a single Arab state supports such an attack, he said (BBC News at 1 p.m.)

'BUSH MUST "DO THE RIGHT THING" ON IRAQ

'The US will find international support if it decides to pursue a war against Iraq, Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has insisted.

'International community unanimity was not a pre-requisite for military action, he told Marines in California.

'It was more important for President Bush to do what he felt was right.

'He compared the US's stand to the "lone voice" of Winston Churchill demanding action against Hitler in the 1930s.'

(BBC Ceefax, 27 August 02, p.104)

It is America that is now in Nazi Germany's position. The cabal-men continue with their appeals to the US military. Rumbo has told it to the marines.

'NO DECISIONS TAKEN ON IRAQ, BUSH INSISTS

'President Bush has told the Saudi ambassador to the US that no decision has been taken to attack Iraq.

'Mr Bush stressed, during talks in Texas, that Middle Eastern allies would be kept informed, the White House said.

'But one senior Saudi official said no country in the world supported action against Iraq and rhetoric had been allowed to get ahead of policy.

'Earlier, the Egyptian President warned of the "chaos" any attack would cause.'

(BBC Ceefax, 27 August 02, p.105)

With his strings being tugged in different directions, we can expect complex gyrations from the Bush-puppet.

28 August 02

Qatar said two days ago that it won't allow its territory to be used to launch an attack on Iraq. (BBC World Service news at 3 a.m.)

This sounds like bad news for the cabal, as this is a key US military base in the region. But (the possibility of disinformation aside), the current Qatari emir is a Western protege (or puppet?), and his government may not have any choice in the matter.

A Reuter report quoted the Qatari foreign minister as saying, 'We are of course against any military action' against Iraq but that America had not yet asked Qatar to provide them with military facilities for such an attack.

So, if this brief report is the whole truth, Qatar hasn't actually said that it won't allow the US to use it.

An envelope with white powder was opened at Al Gore's (?former) office in Nashville. One person was given precautionary treatment. (BBC TV news)

Nashville, where Bush was just addressing army vets.

Cf. 'Suspicious powder sent to Gore considered a hoax', USA Today online, 27 August 02.

'DO NOT FOCUS ON OUSTING SADAM — SAUDIS

'Saudi Arabia's foreign minister has warned other countries against trying to remove Saddam Hussein from power.

'Replacing the Iraqi leader through external force would not lead to stability, Prince Saud al-Faisal told BBC Radio 4's The World at One. ...'

'He said it was still possible to discuss with Iraq the possibel return of UN weapons inspectors to the country.

'This was the single most important issue, the Prince added.'

(BBC Ceefax, 28 August 02)

29 August 02

Kenneth Eidelmann (spelling?), an aide to Donald Rumsfeld, has 'scornfully rejected' the above (talking to the BBC); he said what the Saudis feared was a successful, democratic, oil-rich country next to it — ! (BBC World Service news, 3 a.m.)

President Musharraf of Pakistan has said there is some evidence that al-Qaeda is present in Pakistan, though mainly in the border areas. Where it had entered cities, it was having a destabilizing effect (he gave Lahore and Rawalpindi as examples). It may have been responsible for certain attacks on American interests in Pakistan. (Ibid.)

A commentator on the BBC World Service news said we haven't seen the tell-tale signs of preparations for an attack on Iraq, such as the breaking-up and redeployment of US fleets, and preliminary diplomacy with European countries to secure at least their acquiesence.

Mounir El Motassadeq faces approx. 3000 charges in Germany of complicity in the Sept. 11 murders in America. He was arrested two months after the attacks and is expected to face trial later this year. He is said to have been in a cell in Hamburg with Mohammed Atta, the alleged leader of the 9/11 hijackers, and to have provided financial assistance and flying lessons. ( BBC Ceefax + BBC TV)

'GROUP BOASTED OF SEPT 11 PLOT

'A German al-Qaeda cell hatched a plan as early as April 2000 [nb. CIA chief Tenet said it was hatched in 1998] to attack the World Trade Centre and even boasted of the plot to a librarian, lawyers claim.

'Prosecutor Kay Nehm said the group included September 11 hijackers who publicaly warned of thousands of deaths.

'Mounir El Motassadeq, the only person arrested in Germany over Sept. 11, faces 3,000 counts of accessory to murder.'

(ITV Teletext, 29 August 02, p.311)

All this stuff is clearly being brought forward for the first anniversary of 9/11.

'WARNING OVER IRAQ FROM FRENCH PRESIDENT

'French President Jacques Chirac believes US military action against Iraq without a UN mandate would be against international law.

'Mr Chirac said it was up to the UN Security Council to decide what action to take if Iraq continued to refuse the unconditional return of arms inspectors.

'"This goes counter to the French notion of collective security," he said.

'A recent poll suggested around 75% of French people opposed a war with Iraq.'

(BBC Ceefax, 29 August 02, p.116)

30 August 02

'ARAB LEAGUE RENEWS OPPOSITION ON IRAQ

'The Arab League has reasserted its opposition to a US attack on Iraq and questioned where such action would lead.

'Any change of regime in any country must come from within, the league's UN ambassador Yahya Mahmassari said.

'Would the US turn its attention to other Mid-East countries, or even Latin America or Europe, after Iraq, he asked [my emphasis].

'Earlier, Iraq said there was no point in readmitting UN inspectors because the US had already decided to attack.'

(BBC Ceefax at 2 a.m, p.118)

'US WARNS OF FAULTY BOEING AIRCRAFT PUMP

'Some 1,440 Boeing jets in the US are to be urgently inspected amid fears they may be fitted with a potentially faulty fuel pump which can explode [loose wiring].

'The US Federal Aviation Authority issued an emergency order but said no incidents had been linked to the fault.

'The pumps were installed in January and April on Boeing 737s, 747s and 757s.

'The FAA has sent advisories to its counterparts around the world relating to the 2,100 Boeing jets outside the US.'

(BBC Ceefax, 30 August 02, p.108)

So close to the 9/11 anniversary, and with the same type of aircraft as those used in the attacks, you don't have to be Einstein to figure out that it is quite likely a cover story for terrorist sabotage. (Or is it deliberate scaremongering?)

I seem to remember a similar story was concocted in connection with the European Airbus crash on Queen's, New York, last Nov. 12, which seemed fairly obviously another terrorist attack designed to brush up on Sept. 11.

'US, UK STRIKE AT IRAQI MILITARY SITES

'Coalition air strikes have damaged three military sites in Iraq within six days, the US military has said.

'A spy-centre in the no-fly zone [sic] was hit on Sunday, a radar site on Thursday, and earlier on Friday [today] a missile site was attacked for the sixth time in a week. ...'

(BBC Ceefax, 30 August 02, p.108)

31 August 02

'GUNMAN "TOOK FLYING LESSONS"

'A Muslim convert suspected of trying to hijack a Stansted-bound jet had taken flying lessons [in California and Florida], the CIA and Swedish security forces have confirmed. [He also lived near some of the 9/11 hijackers in Florida in the later 1990s.]

'But the CIA backtracked on its earlier claim that Karem Chatty, 29, planned to crash the plane into a US embassy [in Britain or Europe].

'The source withdrew the claims after the head of Sweden's security police categorically denied the reports.'

(ITV Teletext, 31 August 02, p.304)

But this seems to show that the CIA's agitpropniki are resurfacing for a 9/11 anniversary "celebration".

The Israeli armed forces have killed more civilians in the Palestinian territories in the last few days. A women and her 3 children were killed in their house in the Gaza Strip by a tank shell. In the West Bank two ten-year-olds and two others were killed with an al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade leader in a car, by a helicopter missile attack.

Meanwhile Israeli forces launched reprisal strikes after a Lebanese guerrilla missile attack on the disputed northern border zone.
