'US BOMBS AFGHAN WEDDING PARTY
'US helicopters and jets have attacked a house in Afghanistan while a wedding was on, killing up to 120 people, witnesses and hospital officials said.
'The attack occurred in Uruzgan province, where special forces and other coalition troops are searching for al-Qaeda and Taliban fugitives.
'The Pentagon admitted that at least one bomb dropped in the area missed its target.' [I.e., the one that didn't hit the party?]' (ITV Teletext, p.303)
Whatever the ins and outs of this incident, it epitomises the goal of the totalitarian-souled US cabal: the victory of death over life; the Reign of Death.

British Home Secretary David Blunkett has put forward various proposals for an identity card system. While 'option 2' is apparently for genuinely voluntary identity cards, 'option 1' puts forward a system which, while not requiring the public to carry them at all times, would make the possession of them compulsory. The 'entitlement card' could be used, and apparently would be required (in 'option 1') to access employment, services and state benefits. The plans will be 'put out for public consideration' for six months before legislation is presented to Parliament.
All they will need to do then is to reduce it to a microchip, implant it in our foreheads or right hands, and we will have a simply beastly mark, without which it will be impossible to 'trade'.
Of course, if it is implanted in the forehead, this will be useful for head-butting coffee machines that don't work.

'INDEPENDENCE DAY TERROR ALERT
'Military jets are patrolling American skies to protect against terror strikes as the nation celebrates its first Independence Day since September 11.
'Thousands of extra police and national guard troops are also on duty following an FBI warning about a possible attack.
'President Bush urged Americans to be "hearty" and "joyous" in celebrations despite the threats.'

'INTERNET BODY FACES GROWING PRESSURE
'The future of the organization which oversees key parts of the internet is still clouded in uncertainty.
'Icann has approved a plan to reform but analysts say the company is struggling to win backing from the industry.
'Critics have said Icann should concentrate on managing root servers and leave policy decisions to a separate body.
'The US government will decide on Icann's future in September.'

'SECURITY CHIEF'S SUPPORTERS DEFY ARAFAT
'Some 600 supporters of sacked Palestinian security chief Jibril Rajoub said they will not co-operate with his successor.
'Yasser Arafat replaced Mr Rajoub following US and Israeli calls for reform of the Palestinian Authority. [See comments and quotation below.]
'But Rajoub loyalists, in a meeting near Ramallah, said the move would undermine security and not strengthen it.
'A delegation of Mr Rajoub's followers is due to meet Mr Arafat.'
(BBC Ceefax, 6 July 02, p.109)
"Rajoub, the most powerful security chief in the West Bank, has close ties to American officials and the CIA ... He also has been widely seen as a successor to the beleaguered Arafat. ... Rajoub is seen as a protege of the CIA, favored by Americans and many Israelis. [But] He is generally reviled among Palestinians, who see him as a traitor."So something is back-to-front somewhere. Arafat's politicking, maybe.

'Some will be in uniform to act as a visible deterrent.
'The move comes after two people were shot dead by an Egyptian-born gunman at [the El-Al] ticket counter in LA on Tuesday [2 July].'

'US PREPARING FOR SMALLPOX VACCINATIONS
'The US government plans to vaccinate 500,000 health and emergency workers against smallpox in case of a bioterror attack, the New York Times reported.
'According to the newspaper, federal officials said preparations for mass public vaccinations were also in hand [my emphasis].
'Jabs would start being given to hospital workers and special smallpox response teams soon, it said.
'The US has been stockpiling the vaccine since the September 11 attacks.'
(BBC Ceefax, 7 July 02, p.119)
Now HERE'S an idea: what if the US cabal is planning to launch smallpox attacks on regions outside America, and therefore (generously) wants to immunize the American population?

'President Bush has vowed the US will use"all the tools at its disposal" to bring down Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

'F[inancial] T[imes :] Iraq is exploiting its growing links with Ukraine in an effort to obtain weapons technologies, arms control experts have said.' (ITV Teletext, 9 July 02, p.326)
--The US cabal is pushing an Iraq-Ukraine arms-sales connection, evidently to extend its imperial claws further into former Soviet republics. (It already has US troops in various central Asian ex-Soviet states, on pretext of guarding and training against terrorism, but really as a basis for establishing dominance of Middle-Eastern and Caspian oil reserves.)
Last April 21 (see April diary under this date), I saw a British Channel 4 TV documentary, on the murder of a Ukrainian investigative journalist by the Kuchma government. The programme also referred to a US investigation of alleged illegal arms sales by the Ukraine, including missiles to Iraq. ...

Salah Nasrawi, AP writer, 'Al-Qaida Spokesman Makes New Threats', Washington Post online, 10 July 2002:-
Their dastardly spokesman, "Abu Ghaith", is back. See June diary, under 23 and 24 June, for his first "appearance". Some excerpts from the Washington Post article appear below. As usual, my own comments are in red.
'...
'"Al-Qaida will organize more attacks inside American territory and outside, ..." al-Qaida's chief spokesman, Kuwaiti-born Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, said in an audio recording aired by an Islamic Web site believed to be close to the terror network blamed for the Sept. 11 attacks.
["Their" perpetual threats are a mirror of the perpetual terror-warnings of the FBI, jolly John Ashcroft and other stand-up cabalites; as their whole organization and methods are, indeed. "They" are simply the reflection of the cabal as it looks at itself in the mirror.]
'We are coming back, God willing, from where you cannot expect us," said Abu Ghaith in the interview.
[Up out of the TOILET BOWL like those scuba terrorists the FBI warned us of not long ago, perhaps. Gremlins Will Get You in the End!!]
'The new targets, he said, will be "American and Jewish -- our arrogant enemies."
'There is no way to verify the authenticity of Abu Ghaith's interview, but U.S. officials said two weeks ago that a recent audio recording by him in which he claimed that al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was still alive appeared to be legitimate. Government analysts matched the sound of his voice to previous recordings.
'The recording, played on the Web site Wednesday [today, 10 July 02] appeared to be the same voice.
...
'"Has our battle with America ended? It never ended and will never end because it is not a personal battle but rather a battle between right and wrong ... it is a struggle between good and evil," he said.
[This kind of statement is rather reminiscent of Dubya's tireless refrains, to the tune of 'we are fighting an evil enemy', 'it is a battle of civilization against barbarism', and so on and so forth). Perhaps "Abu Ghaith" is just W wearing a false beard.
...
'Abu Ghaith said bin Laden and most of his top aides were unharmed. "I can assure you that 98 per cent of them are well and fine." He also promised [ again], without giving details, that the Saudi-born bin Laden will "soon" appear in a television show.
[Again, this is reminiscent of the US cabal's own line. The US military, amongst others, initially said that they assumed bin Laden must be dead, must have been killed in the Tora Bora bombing, etc; and the CIA officially denied a story that Osama had escaped from Pakistan. Later an ambivalent attitude was adopted, e.g. Rumsfeld's witty 'I can tell you that bin Laden is either alive or dead, and if the former he's either in Afghanistan or Pakistan or somewhere else'. But in recent weeks they have increasingly plugged the line that he's alive.]

Buland Ecevit's Democratic Left government in Turkey 'is on the brink of collapse' after the foreign minister resigned (the latest in a string of resignations of ministers and deputies). A Turkish spokesman in the US said two messages had been sent, from the US State Department and the Treasury, urging Turkey to stick to the economic reform programme (supported by the International Monetary Fund, and apparently necessary to join the European Union). The resigned foreign minister supports this programme, but Ecevit is described as 'extreme'.
(BBC News 24 at 3 a.m. BST)
There is currently a question mark over Turkey allowing the US the use of its military facilities as a base to attack Iraq. Is the US cabal putting in its oar to help get rid of Ecevit's government? What could replace it? A more 'Iraq attack-friendly' government?

'PLANS REPORTED TO SLASH JURY TRIALS [in Britain]
'Many defendants will lose the right to trial by jury in a plan to be unveiled next week, The Independent claims.
'It says a White Paper will propose that judges could be able to sit alone where they believe a jury might be subjected to intimidation, or in complex cases.
'Retrials of defendants may also be allowed "in the interests of justice" where there is compelling new evidence.
'And magistrates' maximum sentences could be doubled to 12 months.'
(BBC Ceefax, 13 July 02, p.108)
Bush says that the US budget deficit will be 50% greater than expected, partly due to the falling stock market, but also to government spending exceeding revenue; the increase in 'homeland defense' spending was singled out.
And the falling stock market has inspired the man who set up the 'national debt clock' (in Time Square?) to restart it. The US national debt currently stands at $6,000,000,000,000 (six trillion dollars). (I believe that total US debt, public and private, is in the region of $20 trillion.)
Here's another, negative reason for America to want to seize oil-producing regions. And consider this passage:
[The OPEC petroleum-price hikes] of the 1970s accelerated the loss of American [world economic] hegemony, exposing its dependence on other nations for vital industrial resources. However, in the 1970s America had tremendous strengths to see it through the crisis: it had vast international currency reserves, the US banks and corporations were undoubtedly still the strongest in the world, and its financial position was rock solid. The situation by the 1990s was very different. America had become the world's largest debtor nation. It relied on foreign oil to supply twice as much of its needs as in the 1970s, and most serious of all, its financial markets had become destabilized by a few seriously over-extended sectors. The mutual funds have become truly gigantic, the hedge funds are equally colossal, and the derivatives markets are astronomic in size. These three sectors so dominate the US domestic financial scene that the entire system can no longer be considered stable.(Bernice Cohen, The Edge of Chaos: Financial Booms, Bubbles, Crashes and Chaos, Wiley, 1997, pp.369-70)
The author is here considering factors which could lead to a stock-market 'crash of crashes', a scenario which she believes would necessarily be preceded by a 'boom of booms'. Since she wrote her book, the latter has arguably occurred, with stocks rising to unprecedented levels of over-valuation (as judged by price/earnings ratios or other criteria).
We now definitely appear to be on the down side of the boom. The graph-pattern of the Dow Jones, for example, describes a massive, years-wide head-and-shoulders pattern (on a scale which I have only seen before in the Japanese bubble of the late eighties and early nineties). Such patterns are supposed, by stock-market experts, to indicate the peaking-out of a market boom, preliminary to major decline.
'CHINA "DEVELOPS FORCE AGAINST TAIWAN"
'China is preparing "credible options" to attack Taiwan and could move against it with little warning, the Pentagon has reported.
'Beijing fears that Taiwan's permanent independence could give a strategic foothold to America, the report adds.
'It says increasing Russian arms sales give China more chance of mounting an attack on Taiwan.
'Russian submarines could blockade Taiwan and deter a US response, it adds.'
(BBC Ceefax, 13 July 02 at 5 a.m.)
The extreme militarist elements are developing what they attempted one-off in May 1999:- the working-up of a fight with their old cold-war enemies. It isn't enough that the Cold War ended in the West's favour; now it's payback time. And with the Soviet nuclear arsenal largely extant, this threatens Armageddon.
14 July 02
Twenty-seven people, mainly women and children, have been killed in an attack by 'militants' on a Jammu shanty town. About three dozen people were injured. The victims were mainly Hindu; the gunmen were said to have been disguised as Hindu holy men. India (what a surprise!) has blamed Pakistan as the 'inspiration' behind the attack. Cue for another round of Pakky-bashing, of course.
'BIN LADEN "IN PAKISTAN BORDER REGION"
'Osama Bin Laden is alive and probably living in the border region between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Germany's foreign intelligence chief has said.
'"Given the information we have, we are convinced he is still alive," August Hanning told Welt am Sonntag newspaper.
'He is still the al-Qaeda figurehead but "does not appear to move around much".

'Experts have warned that if a small asteroid exploded over a trouble spot it could trigger a nuclear war.
'Scientists and military chiefs believe action should be taken so an explosion is not mistaken as [sic] a nuclear strike ...'

Ever-ready to find a cabalistic conspiracy, I wonder if the cabal plans to launch nuclear strikes and pass them off as asteroids?! Not even the cabal would try it, would they?? Perhaps they're handing out rope for 'conspiracy nuts' like me to hang themselves. (Another conspiracy theory!)

'BIN LADEN "ALIVE AFTER ATTACK INJURY"
'Osama bin Laden is alive and in good health after being wounded in an attack on his Afghanistan base in December, an Arab journalist has claimed.
'Abdel-Bari Atwan, editor of the London based al-Quds al-Arabi magazine, said the al-Qaeda leader would not appear on video until another attack on the US.
'Bin Laden had been hurt by shrapnel from a US assault, Mr Atwan added.
'Mr Atwan has close ties to the Saudi-born dissident's associates.'
(BBC Ceefax, p.114)
Mr Atwan is indeed one of the very few sources to plug the line that bin Laden is still alive, amongst Arabs anyway. Al-Jazeera TV in Qatar and some 'radical Arab' website that pops in and out of existence are others.
The situation is rather different amongst Western government/military/intelligence apparatuses. That of the Americans has in recent weeks swung over to this line. It has just been backed up by the head of Germany's intelligence (see above, 14 July).
Omar Sheikh (and three others?) have been sentenced to death in Pakistan after being found guilty of Daniel Pearl's murder — Omar's family says the trial was a farce (and was carried out at the behest of the US).
John Walker Lindh, the 'American Taleb', has cut a deal to plead guilty to helping the Taleban and carrying explosives, and avoid life imprisonment, but to serve two 10-year sentence consecutively.

'BUSH UNVEILS DOMESTIC ANTI-TERROR PLANS
'President George Bush has unveiled a national strategy to protect the US from further terrorist attacks.
'Some 22 federal agencies would combine to form a Department of Homeland Security under the plans, which must now go before Congress.
'Mr Bush proposed new screening tools to detect nuclear devices at the country's borders and ports.
'He also called for research on vaccines and antidotes to chemical attacks.'
(BBC Ceefax, 16 July 02, p.118)
17 July 02
More details on the last item, from today's London Times (my comments in red):-
'US blueprint to thwart terror'
'President Bush unveiled his long-awaited strategy to protect America from terrorism yesterday [16 July] — a 71-page blueprint that includes controversial proposals to let the US Army impose quarantines during a biological attack, and the use of thumbprint and eyeball scanning for foreign visitors.
'America's first National Homeland Security Strategy, eight months in the making, calls for sweeping new powers for the federal Government, new extradition and secrecy laws, the stockpiling of newly-developed anti-terror vaccines, and the creation of federal "red teams" that would dream up ways of attacking US targets to expose the nation's weak points. [It has already done so, of course; its most important (probably) to date being called 'al-Qaeda'. And talking of red, how about the Red Brigades ...?]
'The initiative, announced by the President in the White House Rose Garden, also calls for federal security features on state driving licenses, and increased inspection of the 16 million shipping containers that enter US ports annually.
'...
'The plan, parts of which face a story reception in Congress, relies heavily on science and technology to help prevent "a new wave of terrorism in the US, including the "catastrophic threats" of nuclear attack, radiological "dirty" bombs, and biological and chemical weapons.
The White House is calling for research on new vaccines, [and] the creation of "biometric" travel documents ... It calls for greatly expanded use of sensors to detect nuclear and radiological devices at borders, ports and main highways.
The document begins with an acknowledgement of the difficulty of defining terrorism. [Now here are opportunities for a convenient broadening of the scope of the measures ... Domestic terrorism is to be included ...] ... which brings the plan to one of its most contentious points: the use of the US military to counter domestic threats.
'Until yesterday senior Pentagon officials, including Donald Rumsfeld, the Defence Secretary, had repeatedly denied that they planned to ask Congress to overturn, or bypass, the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act, a fundamental piece of legislation that sharply restricts the military's ability to participate in domestic law enforcement. [Enter the (as yet embryonic) Northern Command, a projected section of US world military forces that may eventually reduce the US nation to the same status as the rest of the cabal's projected world empire. For the 'Northern Command', see 'Military Favors a Homeland Command', Washington Post, 21 Nov. 2001, p.A01, and 'Pentagon Debates Homeland Defense Role', Washington Post, 11 Feb. 2002.] But the Administration now argues for a "thorough review" of the law — an initiative that will add to the problems the security strategy faces in Congress. Already, the key to implementing the plan — the proposed Department of Homeland Security ... — has faced congressional opposition. Last week a series of congressional committees essentially rewrote the plan for the new department, voting not to place the Coast Guard, the Secret Service and a large part of the immigration service under its auspices.
'Tom Ridge, the newly-appointed Homeland Security Director who developed the strategy, said yesterday that US troops might ringfence cities in the event of a chemical or biological attack [my emphasis], but that "rules of engagement" needed to be established.
'...
'Estimates put the cost of [these] homeland security [plans] at more than $100 billion (£70 billion) a year.
'President Bush said he would like to see the plan approved by Congress by September 11, the anniversary of the attacks. [And he presumably wishes us all many happy returns!]'

'ONLINE SNOOPING TO START [in Britain] ON AUGUST 1
'A new surveillance system that will allow police and government agencies to monitor people's web habits will start on August 1, the Home Office has said.
'"The surveillance powers were passed in the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act in October 2000.
'The law obliged communication service providers to install technology that allows surveillance.
'Snooping will start on August 1, but some systems have yet to be installed.'
(BBC Ceefax, p.154)
Executive Assistant FBI Director Dale Watson, "the FBI's top counter-terrorism official", said he thought bin Laden was probably dead. Nothing had been found in intercepted communications to suggest that he was still alive. This contradicts various suggestions from the administration, the Pentagon and the CIA that bin Laden is still alive.
(Josh Meyer, 'Dead or Alive? The Bin Laden Guessing Game', Los Angeles Times online, 18 July 2002)
The hard-working, crime-fighting FBI, as yet only partly subverted into a cabalistic puppet, is still trying to maintain an independent, objective attitude.

'Israeli troops have arrested 21 Palestinian men they say are relatives of those who carried out recent bomb attacks in the West Bank and Tel Aviv.
'Israel Radio said the army intends to expel those arrested to the Gaza Strip.
'It is the first time since September 2000 that Israel has carried out this type of punishment.
'The army has also destroyed the homes of the two wanted militants it claims were behind the two attacks.'
(BBC Ceefax, p.111)
The Gaza Strip is being converted into a giant Escape From New York-style concentration camp. The Israeli hard-liners may have legal difficulties with the expulsions, however; the last time they tried something like this, the Israeli attorney-general blocked the move.
'US POLITICIANS SLAM "CITIZEN SPY" PLAN
'A scheme to turn millions of US citizens into spies, as part of an overhaul of domestic security, has come in for widespread criticism.
'Under the plan, 11m volunteers whose work takes them into private homes — such as postmen and gas technicians — would report "suspicious activity".
'Both Democrat and Republican politicians have attacked the scheme.
'An amendment has been proposed which could see the scheme banned by Congress.'
(BBC Ceefax, 19 July 02, p.115)
It smacks of neo-Stalinism, and appears very significant. However, I haven't yet found this news story anywhere else. It couldn't be a phony tale dumped on the non-American media to sow confusion, could it? Courtesy of the Department of Strategic Disinformation, or whoever?

'BUSH VOW ON "TERROR STATES"
'US President George Bush has promised to defeat terrorist regimes during an inspection of US Afghan war veterans.
'After a cry of "let's get Saddam" by a US soldier, Mr Bush vowed to defeat the "mounting danger" of terrorist regimes, but made no specific mention of Iraq.

President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan is busy converting his country into an autocracy, at a time when he has come to an agreement with the US to allow limited use of Kazakhstan's facilities to the US military. The US has openly criticised Nazarbayev for his behaviour. "The situation in Kazakhstan is sensitive for the Untied States, which has long considered this country an important future source of oil and more recently a key ally in the war on terrorism."
(Robert G. Kaiser, "Kazakhs' Season of Repression: President of Key U.S. Ally Puts Critics on Trial, in Jail", Washington Post, 22 July 2002, p.A01)
Is this another case of the US cabal giving a government a covert green light to do what it wants (while publicly protesting the opposite), in this case to establish an autocracy — in exchange for what the cabal wants (firstly, use of Kazakhstan's military facilities)? (Israel v. Palestine is another putative case, with the cabal de facto letting Israel crush the Palestinians, in return for the Sharon government's com-rogue alliance.)
Kazakhstan is the northern fringe of the cabal's projected Middle-eastern oil empire; it is the northernmost country in the US military Central Command (CENTCOM) region of "responsibility" (i.e. of opportunity), which also covers much of the Middle East, from Pakistan in the East to Iraq in the West, north-east Africa (including the horn), and of course the very heartland of the oil reserves around the Persian Gulf and Saudi Arabia. (Kazakhstan is also handy for Caspian oil, which probably barely shows up on the gas-guzzling cabal's radar.)
The ex-Soviet central Asian republics' democratic record is poor. The Turkmen leader has established a personality cult phrased in terms of his country's traditional culture rather than "scientific socialism", but his techniques stem straight from the USSR. Uzbekistan still has strict-regime hell-on-earth labour camps left over from the Soviet Gulag; I'm not sure if its leader is the same one that was appointed by Leonid Brezhnev twenty years ago — the that appointee was in power for years after glasnost' and independence.

Sheikh Salah Shehada, military leader of Hamas, was killed when an Israeli F-16 fighter plane rocketed his house in Gaza City at dead of night. Fifteen others, eight of them children, including Shehada's wife and three children, were also killed. Israeli PM Ariel Sharon congratulated his forces on the action, though he 'regretted' the deaths of innocent civilians. UN Secretary General Kofi Annan condemned the attack (for its slaying of innocent civilians). Hamas has promised bloody revenge.
And this is why blind revenge is always unsuitable. Because it is a reflex action, subject to the crude-and-simple law of cause-and-effect. Individuals and peoples who practise this can be used as tools by those who provoke them into behaving thus. And this is the Likud Party's steadfast technique in this conflict (ever since Sept. 2000), that they may be provided with a continuous flow of excuses to continue their crushing of the Palestinians. And they can depend on a continuous flow of suicide bombers from among the ranks of the Palestinians, though the wiser Palestinian leaders must surely realise that this is their method.
Mary Robinson (the former Irish PM) steps down after five years as head of the UN Commission of Human Rights. She is being replaced by Sergio Vieira de Mello, a senior UN official of Brazil. (BBC Ceefax, 23 July 02, p.113)
Robinson has been a thorn in the side of the US and Israeli gangster-cabals alike. She called (along with Amnesty International) for an inquiry into the Qala-i-Jangi massacre of Taleban and al-Qaeda prisoners in Afghanistan last November. She also sought an investigation (along with others) into the alleged massacre of Palestinians in Jenin by Israeli troops recently. We naturally wonder what maneouvrings the US may have made to procure her replacement, and what the political position of the new UNHCR head is.

'NORTH KOREA'S "REGRET" OVER SEA CLASH
'The North Korean government has written to South Korea expressing regret over the sinking of a frigate which left five sailors dead and 19 wounded.
'North Korean ships fired on the frigate in June, halting reconciliation projects between the two Koreas.
'South Korean president Kim Dae-Jung had called the skirmish "illegal North Korean provocation".
'But the letter proposed more talks aimed at reconciling the countries.'
(BBC Ceefax, p.142)
Blow hot, blow cold, until the rock is cracked.
'Austria's Kurier comments on Silvio Berlusconi's own presidential prospects [in Italy].
'It follows his comments about running for the post if it were changed along the lines of the French model.
'The paper believes he has a chance because "after 58 governments in 50 years, polls show 60% in favour of a strong, directly elected president".
'There is a strong feeling Mr Berlusconi is trying to live up to his nickname "Berluskaiser", the paper says.
(BBC Ceefax, 25 July 02, p.147, reviews of European papers)
'Britain could back an attack on Iraq without a fresh United Nations mandate, PM Tony Blair has signalled. ...
He also 'has indicated that the House of Commons is unlikely to be given a vote on whether British forces are involved in any military action against Iraq. ...'

'US DENY BASE AMBUSH CLAIMS
'The US has denied reports that seven American troops have been killed and 14 hurt in an ambush at a base in eastern Afghanistan.
'The reports, attributed only "to Afghan special sources" [i.e. 'special forces'??], were broadcast on Abu Dhabi TV. US Central Command in Florida said it was unaware of any such ambush.
'The TV reports also claimed four US troops had been kidnapped from Bagram.'
(ITV Teletext, p.310)
Now if 'special sources' was a pun, either intentional or psycho-slip, on (US) special forces, it would have to have been made in a language in which the words 'sources' and 'forces' rhyme or chime in some way. English, most likely. The information may have come from 'Anglo-Saxon' sources, inside or outside of Afghanistan, and fed to the cabalistic muppet media in the Persian Gulf for prior broadcast there. But what Machiavellian purpose would lie behind this manoeuvre, I don't know.
"Operation TIPS", as the US cabal calls its prospective citizen rat-army, has indeed been an obscure initiative. I have now found one piece on it in the American media (dating before today): 'What Is Operation TIPS?', Washington Post, 14 July 2002, p.B06. As the title hints, not much information was available at the time;
"Apparently the only public information about the program, in fact, is on a government Web site ... [i.e, www.citizencorps.org/tips.html]. From the sketchy descriptions of the program so far, it is impossible to determine with any precision what the government is intending. Is TIPS to be principally focused on cargo shipping or on people in their homes? ... A White House official told us that the program will be focused more on suspicious activities around neighborhoods than inside homes ..."While the official statements play down or ignore the intrusion-into-homes aspect of TIPS, they do not explicitly deny it either.
The Washington Post has another article today, 'Ashcroft: TIPS Plan Won't Have Central Database' (p.A10). It says he's changed his mind.
Assuming Ashcroft isn't just lying, perhaps the somebody like the CIA will keep the database and his "Justice" Dept. will have full access to it.
The July 26 article also says that 'Ashcroft also disagreed with findings by congresssional investigators that plans to destroy quickly gun-purchase records would result in more illegal weapons on the streets'.
I've already got the wily Ashcroft down as a 'liaison officer' between the cabal's front-men (Bush, ?Rumsfeld, ?Powell ...) and Those Behind. Is he craftily encouraging the "libertarian gun-lobby", the "million-gun march" etc, the better to declare a state of anarchy/rebellion and crack down with martial law or whatever?
'HOLLYWOOD TRIES PC HACKING TECHNIQUE
'Hollywood is hoping to use hacking techniques to prevent illegal downloads of music and films from the internet.
'A bill introduced in the US would, if passed into law, allow the industry to hack into personal computers.
'The industry would use technology to disrupt or disable computers known to be trading in copyrighted material.
'The worldwide cost to the music and movie industry of internet piracy is estimated to be $4.3bn (£2.9bn).'
(BBC Ceefax, 26 July 02, p.154)
It won't be just Hollywood that takes advantage of this legalised banditry if it's enacted. And it can be used a cover for spying as well. Remember that every legal enlargement of hostile activities also increases the scope for illegal activities still further too.

Washington is to host talks to which the six largest Iraqi opposition groups are invited. The Bush administration 'hopes' that they will focus on the removal of Saddam Hussein's regime from power. (BBC Ceefax, p.142)
'US TROOPS HURT IN AFGHANISTAN
'Four US soldiers have been wounded and two Afghan militia members killed in small arms fire in southeastern Afghanistan, a US army spokesman said.
''The soldiers came under small arms fire during a reconnaissance mission near the town of Khost.
''The American troops were immediately evacuated to the main US military base at Bagram airbase for treatment.'

DNA tests carried out by the US have 'confirmed' that a body found in Pakistan is Daniel Pearl's (BBC Ceefax, 27 July 02, p.318)
83 people were killed and 138 hurt when a Sukhoi fighter plane crashed at a air show at Lviv, Ukraine, and hit the crowd. The two pilots ejected and escaped with minor injuries. President Kuchma has sacked the head of the Ukrainian air force and instigated a prosecution.

'SUNDAY TIMES[:] Military planners are preparing an amphibious assault on Iraq involving thousands of British and US marines. (ITV Teletext, p.326)
We've heard this one before, in the previous Gulf War 11 years ago. So have the Iraqis. Double-bluff this time round? But an amphibious landing will be even more unnecessary now, as Kuwait is in the allied camp.
The leader of the Participation Front, Iran's biggest reformist party, has issued a threat to pull out of politics unless conservatives stop blocking change. The leader is Mohammed Reza Khatami, brother of the reform-minded president. Reza also called for Iran to end its confrontation with the US.
Cabalistic pressure works better on some countries than others. The CIA's help in the assassination of the GIA head in oil-producing Algeria has done nothing to end the conflict there. However, a possible comparable move a few days later in Angola (America's eighth-largest oil supplier) -- the killing 'in battle' of UNITA's head), has apparently produced an end to the interminable civil war there (good from selfish intentions?).
Working against the conservatives and supporting the more Western inclined liberal elements in Iran seems to be bearing fruit, too. Thought the latter will only become a stooge for the cabal's oil-imperial ends, if they succeed in ousting the fundamentalists.
In yet another instance of the now-continuous rain of death from the sky, a Russian plane has crashed on takeoff in Moscow, killing 14 crew. The tale of woe in the former communist states is contrasted with a happy, indeed some will say miraculous, ending to a saga of nine miners trapped underground in Pennsylvania -- just miles from where the fourth hijack airliner crashed (or was shot down) on Sept. 11 last year. No doubt, as a reporter commented, this is another Hollywood movie in the making -- if indeed it wasn't already made there.

INDIA: BIN LADEN IS ALIVE
'India claims it has information from "unimpeachable sources" that Osama bin Laden is still alive.
'Defence minister George Fernandes said the al-Qaeda terror network chief was in Pakistan hiding out with the knowledge of Pakistani intelligence.
'The claim drew instant denials from the Pakistan government which accused Mr Fernandes of "talking through his hat".'
(ITV Teletext, p.310)
British Channel 4 news yesterday (Sunday 28 July), commencing a series on modern India, said that India had shifted from its neutral stance to an alliance with the US. They have indeed been mimicking and conspiring with the American Gestapo-Cabal since Sept. 11, against their common target of Pakistan. India staged its imitation of Sept. 11 in December 2001 with the attack on the Indian Parliament, which it alleged was instigated by Pakistani intelligence. It also accused the now-'retired' head of Pakistani intelligence of wiring $100,000 to Mohammed Atta in advance of Sept. 11. (For the latter, see Manoj Joshi, 'India helped FBI trace ISI-terrorist links', The Times of India, 9 Oct. 2001.)
India probably doesn't wish to conquer and rule Pakistan (which would be more trouble than it's worth) but rather to reduce it to a mashed-up rump state. (As the Israelis are doing to the Palestinians.) It will also be content, for the time being at least, to allow the US cabal to establish their control over the west, to ensure an ocean outlet for their Caspian sewage pipeline.
Sorry, Caspian oil pipeline.
Jewish settlements now control 40% of the West Bank. (BBC 1 news) This is a slow, historic ethnic squeezing of the Palestinians, who are progressively being herded into smaller, less profitable and increasingly dislocated areas. Like the Nazi Polish rump state, perhaps.
'US STAGED AFGHAN ATTACK CLEAN-UP — UN
'US investigators removed vital evidence from the scene of a wedding party bombing which left 48 Afghans dead, according to a leaked report.
'The United Nations report claims bullets, shrapnel and traces of blood were removed hours after the village in central Afghanistan was hit on July 1.
'It found no evidence to support a claim that the US had been returning fire.
'The UN says its report is preliminary and investigations are continuing.'

'BRITAIN "BOUGHT WRONG SMALLPOX VACCINE"
'The UK has bought the wrong vaccine to protect it from a terrorist attack, a US expert has claimed.
'Dr Steve Prior [of the US Potomac Institute] told The Times that the US government chose an alternative vaccine, which was successful against a strain related to one obtained by Iraq.
'But the [British] Department of Health said its choice was based on expert advice.
'The British vaccine was bought from Powderject, a company run by Labour party donor Dr Paul Drayson.'
(BBC Ceefax, p.104)
'... The US Potomac Institute said the Lister vaccine [bought by the UK] had not been proven to work against the so-called "battle-strain" of virus obtained by Iraq. ...' (ITV Teletext, 30 July 02, p.304)
Who has stocked up what vaccine, and for protection from whom? Have both the US and the UK stocked up a vaccine which is effective against an American attack, but Britain has been truthful about it?
Or is this report part of a "bungled-British" pre Iraq-attack disinformation campaign, along with "rubbishy" armoured vehicles and rifles? If it is, wouldn't they be encouraging the Iraqis to use bioweapons, if the latter were so minded?
Channel 4 news, continuing its series on India, dealt tonight with the communal violence in Gujarat. The RSS, a 'Hindu-ization' organisation connected to the ruling BJP, bore some responsibility, in the sense of encouraging anti-secular intolerance. Liberal/secular Indian interviewees said that the BJP was evidently behind the violence, and one said that Gujarat was being used as a laboratory for all of India.
We can see the worldwide rise of a third form of totalitarianism (communism and fascism being the first two), which we may call "fundamentalist (neo-religious) totalitarianism" ("funtot" in newspeak). The American "Christian" version has allied with its Indian "Hindu" equivalent. Their common "focus-enemy" is the Muslims (as the communists had the capitalists, and the Nazis the Jews).
