On My Way

Chapter 1
Lucy was in room 1017 of the Port Charles Hotel having a perfectly content dinner with her daughter Serena, whenthe phone rang.
"Hello, Hello?"
There was nothing but silence.
"Hello? Who is this?"
There was now heavy breathing at the other end of the line.
"Who is this?"
Lucy made a face, that said, whatam I doing? And she hung up the phone. She went back to her daughter, but the sound of the breathing still lingered in her mind.
"Who was that Mom?" Serena asked.
"Nobody Sweet Pea." She answered quickly. "Just the wrong number, they wont call back. So how was school today?"
But the breathing was still there.
A jail cell slid open as a dark twisted looking man stepped through the doorway and grinned smugly at the officer standing in front of him.
"You'll be back." Said the officer.
"Well we all have dreams my little peon. Farewell."
The Warden walked down the hall and handed the prisoner an envelope full of his belongings.
Reluctantly he turned to the man and muttered, "You are free to go Mr.Stanton."
In room 1018 of the Port Charles Hotel there was a knock at the door and it was quickly opened. A tall curvy woman with long wavy brown hair stood in the doorway and ushered the man, who was wearing a large hat and trench coat, into her room in a hurry.
"Oh Rex!" She said. "I cant believe its really you, we pulled it off!"
"My darling Angela, we haven't even begun to pull things off yet." He said as he walked over to the wall separating him from his ex-wife Lucy Coe, and laughed.
Lucy wokeup in a cold sweat. She had just wokenup from one of
the worst dreams she had ever had. It was the breathing. Whoever, was on the phone earlier, was haunting her. She knew it. Shaking she picked up the phone and dialed the number of her ex-fiance and now best friend.
"Hello, Eve please let me speak to Kevin."
Eve Lambert-Collins was not a fan of Lucy Coe or her relationship with her husband. "Lucy do you know what time it is?" She said annoyed and half asleep.
"Yes I know what time it is Eve but I'm having an emergency and I really need to talk to Kevin, now."
Eve decidedto let her husband handle this one, after all that
night they had just had a discussion about Lucy wanting Kevin to be her knight in shining armor, and Eve insisted that it had to stop, and Kevin agreed.
"Yes, Lucy what is the matter?"
Lucy took a deep breath and started from the beginning.
"I got this phone call with this breathing, and I had a dream about it, and you know how I am about my dreams, the universe is trying to tell me something, and I cant ignore it. I feel like I'm being watched. What I'm trying to say is that I have areally bad feeling and I don't feel safe. I'm scared"
"Lucy, first I want you to breathe, them I want you to just think of something good, close your eyes and go to sleep." Kevin replied as Eve rolled her eyes.
"No Doc, you don't understand, somebody is watching me. Please I really need you." She said, practically begging.
"Ok give me a half an hour." Kevin said.
"Thank you Doc, I knew I could count on you." Lucy sighed and she hung up, unaware of just how right she was.
Eve on the other hand could not believe her ears. Just a few hours ago Kevin had promised that all of this was going to stop and here he was getting dressed to go save Lucy Again.
Kevin turned to her knowing what she was going to say, and said. "I have to go there is something wrong and she has been having such a hard time and she really needs someone right..."
Eve cut Kevin off and said. "She needs someone, your right but why does it always have to be you? You know what?" She said angrily. "Go,just go to her."
"Eve." Kevin replied
"No Kevin, you promised that all of this calling and visiting and helping was over, but you already told her that you were going so go, but this better be the very last time."
"Eve." He began. "She is myfriend and she needs me and I have to help her. Thank you for understanding, and I promise this is the very last time Lucy will ever get me out of our bed again."
With that he pulled on his shirt, went down the stairs and out the door.
Kevin knocked on Lucy's door but it was slightly open. He walked in to find a huge mess. The curtains were hanging the bed was pulled apart; Lucy's clothes were everywhere. Her suitcase, which was always in the same place, was gone and it looked like there had been some kind of a struggle.
Kevin looked down on the desk, still wondering what the hell was going on and he saw an envelope with his name on it. He opened it to find a letter in Lucy's handwriting, well it looked like her handwriting but it was very shaky it said:
Doc,
I need a break for a couple of weeks to just relax.
I think I'm going to go somewhere tropical.
Don't try and find me I need to be alone.
Please tell Serena that I will be back in a few weeks
and kiss our goose Sigmund for me. Thank you, and don't worry
about me, I will be fine.
Love, Lucy
Kevin stuffed the note in his pocket and ran for the stairs. Lucy was not on a vacation, someone had forced her to write that note, and he had to find her. He knew the only people who could help were his best friend Mac, the police commissioner and his father Victor, and ex-spy.
He showed the note to Mac and Victor who agreed that Lucy had been taken after all everyone knew, especially Lucy, that Sigmund was a duck not a goose and she hated it when people confused the two totally different animals. It was a clue that something was wrong. As the men realized this they all looked at
each other confused as to who would go through the trouble of taking Lucy Coe from her bed in her hotel room at the very public Port Charles Hotel?
Angela took her last look at room 1018 picked up the last suitcase and walked down the hall. She looked at Lucy's room now blocked off by caution tape and whispered to herself, "Good job Rex, everything is going just as planned, I'll be there to meet up with you soon."
Chapter 2
Kevin, Mac, and Victor were at the Police Station trying to see if they could get any leads as to who had taken Lucy. Victor hung up his small cellular phone and puts it in his pocket. With a very disturbed look on his face he turned to Kevin and Mac, and said, "Rex Stanton was released from the State Correctional Facility yesterday. He was not
scheduled for a parole hearing for five more years, which means that he has someone in his pocket. Anyway I think that is our best lead onwhere Lucy is."
Kevin had a look of horror on his face as he remembered the past actions of the twisted man that is Rex Stanton. How could this happen?" Kevin asked remembering Rex's sick obsession with Lucy. "He is a psycho and he wont think twice about hurting her, we have to find her now. Victor do we have any leads?"
Victor had a smile on his face. "I don't know if this is a lead but it's a place to start. For the past six months a woman has been coming to see Rex everyday. The jail has identified her as Angela Maxwell. She is our best person to talk to right now, and I have the guys down at the bureau working on a location."
Victor's cell phone rang again and he answered. His face automatically showed
his worry. He thanked the caller and hung up. Turning to Kevin and Mac he said "They just got a line on Angela Maxwell's credit card purchases and three days ago she paid for room 1018 of the Port Charles Hotel. That's the room next to Lucy's."
They all looked at each other knowing that it could not be a coincidence that the woman who had been faithfully visiting Rex Stanton, was living on the room directly next to Lucy Coe's.
Lucy opened her eyes to a blurry mess. Everything was a hug fog. She attempted to stand up but her legs felt like lead so she slid back down to the floor. As things became clearer she saw that she was in a very large bedroom, kind of like a hotel room. It had a dark Victorian decoration motif and right away she knew something was wrong. The last thing she remembered she
was in her room. She had just hung up the phone from talking to Kevin and he said he was on his way to see her, so when about ten minutes later there was a knock at the door she did not hesitate to answer it, without even asking who it was. At the door was a disguised figure who pushed their way into Lucy's
suite, they made her write a letter and then stabbed her with a syringe. But where was she now? She knew she had not ever been here before, the exact surroundings were not firmilair, however the feeling was. She could not yet place it but she had a feeling that she knew the person who was behind this. Little did she know just how right she was.
Eve rolledover in bed to find that her husband was still gone.
She figured that he didn't want to wake her when he got in so he slept on the couch. She went downstairs to find that the couch had not been slept on. Eve was livid. She could not believe that after their talk last night her husband was with Lucy all night. She picked up her cell phone and called Kevin's number but his battery had runo ut due to all of the calls he had made about Lucy.
"This is it." She thoughtto herself as she got dressed. "If he wont tell her to back off I will." And with that she slammed the front door and got in her car.
When she arrived the tenth floor it was crawling with police
officers. She immediately became worried about Kevin. She asked many people what was going on. Finally she ran into Detective Garcia who told her that Lucy was missing and Kevin was at the station helping in the search. She was stunned and she felt bad about what happened to Lucy but when she got back into the elevator something in her couldn't help but smile as she said out loud, "Thank you, whoever did this, and while you've got her keep her."
"Well." Said Victor, "I think we just got the profile of this Angela Maxwell." As he walked over to the printer. "Here we go she is an heiress from New York City, but what is her connection to Lucy"
Kevin jumped in, "There might not have to bea connection, if she is involved with Rex we already know she has some sort of problems. She could just be a loyal companion to him and she is now caught up in his schemes. If we find her we will get all of the answers we need after all were probably dealing with a vulnerable young lady that Rex is taking advantage of to help
him in his sick schemes. I'm sure she's just very confused and she probably doesn't even want to be a part of this. She just got sucked in." Kevin did not know just how wrong he was.
Chapter 3
Lucy woke, still on the floor, wanting answers and she was determined to get them. She got up and tried her best to remember the night before. Someone had made herwrite a letter, a letter to her Doc. She knew that it would be ok because Kevin always knew when she was in trouble and she was counting on it, besides, she thought, she had left him a clue, a clue that she knew he would not miss, or she hoped so. One thing that she couldn't get out of her mind was that sense of firmiliarity that she was feeling. And whoever was keeping there was making it very important to cut Lucy off from all contact, even them. Everything she needed was there almost so that she
would need to see nothing. There was a small kitchen fully stocked with food, her favorites in fact, she had a bathroom with everything, even a toothbrush. Then she looked in the closets and she was stunned at what she found. Clothes, tons of clothes for all occasions, but these weren't just any clothes, they were her clothes. At this moment it hither and she began to cry. Someone had gone to a lot of trouble to get her here and they did not plan on letting her go free any time soon. She was still feeling the effects of the drugs so she went back to sleep, on the bed this time.
Eve finally made her way into the Port Charles Police Station to
see her husband sitting ata table with Victor and Mac. She knew that look on his face. It was the look he got when his world was crumbling around him. The thought of Kevin being so distraught about Lucy made Eve's skin crawl. She approached him with as much sympathy as she could muster.
"Kevin." She said quietly.
"Oh Eve I'm sorry I didn't call. He said apologetically.
"I got so worried when you weren't home when I woke up and then I went to Lucy's place to find you and there were all of these police around and the first thing I thought about was you and that maybe you were hurt and I didn't know what to do and I tried to call you but your cell phone was off and I kept checking the messages at the house but there was nothing and oh Kevin I'm so glad your safe." She said as tears were streaming down her face.
"Its ok Eve, I'm ok. Please don't cry." He said
sympathetically.
"Kevin I was so worried." Her face turned angry. "You should
have called me I cant believe you didn't call me. Is she really that important to you that you would let me sit at home and worry aboutyou without even calling me to let me know that you were ok."
"Eve, I said I was sorry about not calling but this is not about
you." Lucy has been kidnapped and I have been up with Victor and Mac all night trying to find leads about who would have done this."
"I know everything Kevin, an officer at the hotel told me what
happened."
"Wait a minute." Kevin said as his face began to turn a bright
shade of red. "You knew about Lucy being missing and yet you came here to a place of people trying to find her and you throw a fit like a child because I didn't call you?"
"You knowwhat Kevin," She replied. "This was supposed to be the
last time you come riding on your white horse to save Lucy, and I have had it. Kevin its time you made a choice. Either me or Lucy."
"Eve I can't believe your being so insensitive about this. Lucy
is missing and your jealous. This is not the time or theplace for this conversation."
Eve couldn't believe what she was hearing. She turned to Kevin who had started to walk away and said.
"I will notdo this anymore, I will not live in the shadow of
another woman."
Kevin began, "Eve your being unreasonable, Lucy is my friend and
she has been goingthrough a rough time and she needs me. I will not leave a friend high and dry like that. In the same situation I wouldn't leave you and I will not leave her."
Eve shot back with the first thing that popped into her head,
"Then you have made your choice, be with Lucy because I know that's who you really want. I'll have my things out of the lighthouse by Monday. Have a nice life with Lucy."
Kevin was shocked. Eve had just left him. A part of him was
devastated but another part of himself felt free. Free to be with the woman he loved. Free to be with Lucy. As he thought about this a huge smile grew cross his face. At the same time Eve walked back in to apologize for her outburst and saw the happiness on Kevin's face. She began to cry knowing why
hewas smiling. She knew she had just let Lucy win because he was going to go back to her as soon as she was found. Before Kevin saw her Eve left. When she got outside Eve said to herself.
"Then I'm going to have to make sure that Lucy is never found." Pleased with herself she went back into the station and offered her help to the team working on Lucy's case. "And this is
the perfect way."
Kevin went back into Mac's office and sat down trying to digest the events that had just happened. Victor walked in and Kevin told him everything that had just happened with Eve. Right away Victor knew what Kevin was thinking about going back with Lucy. Victor hated to admit it but he wanted them together too. As much as he loved Eve he knew that Lucy was the woman for Kevin and he loved her like a true daughter. He knew the only way either of them would be happy was if they were together. Victor knew that he had to help push the love process along and he knew that to begin he first had to find Lucy.
Rex sat in his office while Angela paced back and forth.
"Angela my dear, your going to wear a hole in my carpet, now calm down and tell me what's wrong."
"Rex," she began, "I just don't like the idea that she is in there all alone without someone watching her. She could be planning her escape. Who knows she could be digging a hole in the floor right now."
"Relax, relax, there is no way that Lucy can get out of there. There are no windows, everything is sound proof, the doors are made of steel and she has everything she needs, so there is no need for us to go in there. Its all part of the plan I want her to squirm in there wondering who has done this and why. She had me put ion a mental hospital, and I'm planning on returning the
favor. Even if I get caught I will still have the pleasure of knowing that she is sitting in a padded room on all kinds of drugs without a way to get out. I will sleep well at night knowing that she has lost everything just like she did to me."
