Chapter 17

General Hospital Coffee Shoppe

''Why the sudden interest in Uncle Mac?'' Robin asked Kim.''Your not in trouble are you? Because if you are Mac can help you.''

Needless to say Kim was overwhelmed by Robin's extreme eagerness to help someone in need. She wished she had the same motivation when she was Robin's age.

'Must be a Scorpio thing' Kim figured. She decided she had better tell Robin she needed Mac's help. She hoped that Robin would be mature enough to understand, and that she would be as willing to help as she was now.

''Kim? You still there? YooHoo! Earth to Kimberly! You did not answer my question. Are you in trouble?'' Robin asked with growing concern for Kim.

''Robin,'' Kim paused.''I hope you can understand my reluctance to tell you this but someone very dangerous is after me. That is all I can tell you. Will you help me? Please! I need your help and Mac's?''

Ryan's Hideout --outskirts of
Port Charles

Tamera paced back and forth trying to piece together a plan that would convince Lynne that nothing happened or to be more precise that something DID happen, but it was all HER fault. From what Ryan had told her about Lynne this should have been simple! The problem, however. was that it wasn't so simple...

Ryan wished that Tamera would stop pacing, that only made him want her more. Why did a wave of guilt suddenly splash over him? He was not married anymore. But it still did not seem right somehow.

Something was eating at his conscious. Previous times he could and usually would ignore it, but for some reason he could not shake the sensation.

It was almost as if he could FEEL what Lynne was feeling and going through. The pain of loosing their child, the cheating, the lying, the divorce. The sensation of sadness and grief hit him so hard he fell backwards into the chair behind him and began to sob.

Ryan flashedback to the day that he made love to Tamera in the empty ER. Even then he knew in his heart it was the wrong thing to do but with everything going on at home with Lynne, and her constant begging to get pregnant, he needed to get away from that.

Then it hit him, it was because of HIM that Lynne lost their baby. HE was the reason that they were divorced and he was in hiding.

He realized that it was because of HIS actions he lost his best friend, lover, love, confidante, wife, and the mother of his baby. He began to wonder if Tamera was worth it? Who did he REALLY want to be with? Lynne his true love or Tamera?

He knew the answer before he finished the question. It was Lynne.

His Lynne.

He had to come clean with her. It would be hard but he HAD to come clean with Lynne

Lynne's Apartment (deck)

Lucy could not help but wonder about her aunt's timing. She did this before when Lucy was married to Tony. The reason Tony divorced her was because of the fact that Charlene, Decker, and Colton could not keep their mouths shut and let her be happy.

It never failed whenever she was in a relationship around the corner was Charlene's grand entrance into her life and possibly the destruction of the current relationship no matter how strong the bond was.

But there was the one time in Jennings that Charlene would never let her forget. The funny thing was, the incident did not even involve Charlene at all.

Suddenly Lucy felt Kevin's mouth on her neck and she decided that she would tell him when the time was right what happened and why.. But right now she just wanted to be with her Doc. She felt safe with him and trusted him, but most importantly she was deeply and madly in love with him.

Something that she had never been before and she had to admit that she liked the feeling of being with a man because she LOVED him. ''Hello, Doc.'' Lucy purred.''How is Ly doing?''

''She is resting right now. She told me that she is glad you are here. She feels this connection to you. She said that it was almost as if you and her were together before. Strange huh?'' Kevin said against the skin of Lucy's neck.

''Doc you are going to find this hard to believe but I feel like I have known her for a long time. Not just your casual friendship but a deeper stronger bond. Something I cannot explain. It is almost as if we are related somehow.'' Lucy said.

''How can that be Lucy? The only relatives you have are Charlene and Serena.'' Kevin asked.''What is the relation you feel towards Lynne?''

Lucy was afraid to tell him, but she did anyway.

''Doc, you might find this harder to believe but I feel a mother-daughter connection to her. But that is impossible. Why would I be feeling like that?''

''Maybe it is a subconcious reaction to her situation. What I mean is that since you have been in situations like hers, you feel the need to be with her more and protect her, guide her, like a mother would a child.'' Kevin said with all the love in his heart.''And might I add you are doing a marvelous job too!''

''Thanks. But I know you want to know so ask.''

''Know what?''

''You want to know why I do not want to be found by my aunt..Oh no! Kevin you didn't! You didn't tell her you knew me did you? Please tell me you didn't!''

''Lucy you don't understand. She has been looking for you for the past 2 years. She did not tell me exactly what it was but she needs to tell you something in regards to your family.'' Kevin said.

''Is she using that line again? She always does this, whenever I am in a relationship she finds out about it and ruins it.'' Lucy said.''She is probably chomping at the bit to tell you that...''

''Tell me what?'' Kevin asked.

''Oh. Nothing never mind. It's not important.'' Lucy said, lying.

''When you want to tell me you can. If you don't fine. If she starts to tell me I will stop her. I owe you that much.'' Kevin said.

All of a sudden they heard a scream...

''LUCY??! Where are you?''

''I have to go something is wrong with Lynne. Be back soon.'' Lucy said. She turned and walked to the door. She suddenly turned back and sarcastically said,''Give Aunt Charlene my love!'' then went inside to find Lynne.

Chapter 18

Ryan's hideout

Tamera knew that what Ryan was thinking about. Not that she could blame him but she did not have to like it.

She walked over to the radio and turned it to a soft rock station. If I could turn back time..

As soon as Ryan heard those words he felt worse. He flashed back to the key moments of their relationship. True he did everything to Lynne himself but it seemed right at the time....

''Ryan do me a favor and stuff the fake concern. For your information she is pregnant and anemic. And from what I hear you are cheating on her. Is this true?''

''No. I am not cheating on her.''

''Ryan! TELL ME THE TRUTH!''

''Alright! Alright! I have cheated on Lynne. You happy now?''

''Not yet!''

''What more do you want from me?''

''This!'' Kristen said and smacked him across the face so hard he fell to the floor.''That will teach you not to mess with the Lawrence Girls!''

''We all have something to hide, Kris. In fact I am hiding something from Ryan and have only told you and Des about.'' Lynne said getting her husband's interest.

''What is it Lynne? What have you been hiding from me?''

''Oh no, no, no! You go first I want to hear this one!'' Lynne said.

''Why doesn't Kristen tell you?'' Ryan asked trying to get out of the situation.

''NO! YOU TELL ME AND YOU TELL ME NOW!! NO MORE SECRETS RYAN JOEL YOU TELL ME THE TRUTH NOW!!''

''Alright. Bethany-Lynne I have been cheating on you. I am so sorry. I never meant for you to get hurt.''

''RIGHT! JUST LIKE YOU DID NOT WANT A FAMILY RIGHT AWAY BUT HERE IS A NEWSFLASH FOR YOU. I AM THREE MONTHS PREGNANT WITH OUR BABY.''

When Ryan walked in there he was grateful that she was still asleep. He had to plan what he was going to say if the worst had happened. Lynne could tell there was someone in the room and she slowly opened her tear filled eyes and looked at Ryan.

''Good Morning Ryan. I was hoping you'd be here. Something happened last night.''

''Lynne what happened? Did they save the baby?''

Lynne shook her head and tearfully said,''No they could no save her. I am soo confused. I don't know whether to blame you for this or what. Ryan the only thing I wanted most in this world is gone! The life you and I created on our wedding night is gone. The one person who should not have suffered in this...our unborn baby daughter..was the one that died.''

''Honey I am sorry. I know how much you wanted that child. You are right in that it was my fault that you miscarried our daughter.'' Ryan said.

''Ryan I want a divorce. I am sick of the games! You are right there is a bright side to this. I woke up and realized how stupid I was to have fallen in love with you.'' ''No! Lynne please! I need you in my life. The woman that was supposed to be my mother never loved me. You are the first person to ever love me with her whole heart. Think about it. Please. will you give me another chance. I don't know what I would do if I lost you.'' Ryan begged.

Lynne's bedroom

Lucy rushed into Lynne's bedroom and could not believe that she was looking at Lynne.

This was not the strong Lynne. Lucy knew that this was the vulnerable, hurting, greiving Lynne. A side that Lynne hardly ever showed.

She looked up at Lucy with tear-streaked cheeks and red, tired eyes.''Lucy? Was divorcing Ryan a mistake?'' she asked in a voice etched in tears that had yet to be shed.

Lucy could not help it, her heart went out to the young girl. She knew what Lynne wanted her to say but she had to come clean and tell her what she believed.

''Lynne, I cannot answer that for you. I know you love him and I am sure he loves you too. But take it from someone who has been burned many times. The pain will lessen but never go completely away. As for if the divorce was wrong that is not for me to decide. It is for your heart to decide. Go with your heart Lynne. It will never mislead you.''

At this Lynne only cried harder. She knew Lucy was there to cheer her up and be the emotional balance beam for her, but somehow she could not get out of this pit of self pity.

''You want him back don't you? Even after all that has happened to you because of him you want him back!?'' Lucy said finally realizing what was eating at Lynne.''Honey don't act before you think it through. Remember what he has done.''

''Lucy I am very well aware of what he has done but There is one thing he did that was right!''

''Which would be?''

''He told me that he cheated and that he was sorry. I believe him. But the one thing that is holding me back is Janelle. She would still be growing inside me if this had not happened.'' Lynne sniffed.''But Lucy I love him and I want him back. We have this bond. I cannot explain it. We connect and fit together perfectly. I remember the day I fell in love with him...''

I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish, I'll be your fantasy, I'll be your hope, I'll be your love, be everything that you need. I love you more with every breath truly, madly, deeply, do.. I will be strong I will be faithful 'cos I'm counting on a new beginning, a reason for living. A deeper meaning.

''It was the first day of spring. I was 19 years old and longing for a friend. Anyway, there I was in the student center at PCU and I was walking by his table and our eyes met. I loved him instantly. I stop and I say,''Hi your Ryan right? My name is Bethany-Lynne. I have heard alot about you.'' Then he said,''Yeah I'm Ryan and I am sure you have. Would you like to sit down and talk for a while?''. So I did and I told him the thing that did the trick.''I don't believe any of the bad things that they say about you around campus. You look like you are too sweet a guy to do those things. I love you. I have loved you since I saw you last semester.'' He looked at me weird and then whispered,''I love you too.''

I want to stand with you on a mountain. I want to bathe with you in the sea. I want to lay like this forever. Until the sky falls down on me..

''Then three months ago we got married in this beautiful ceremony...''

And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky, I'll make a wish, send it to heaven and make you want to cry.
The tears of joy for all the pleasure and the certainty. That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of the highest power, in lonely hours, The tears will devour you..

Ryan was standing at the altar waiting for Lynne to walk down the aisle and join him in the union of marriage. Lynne was his heart, home, refuge from the storm and his soulmate.

The organist began to play Pachelbel's Cannon in D and there was Lynne, in a beautiful white flowing wedding gown, heading toward him. She was beautiful.

Later they exchanged vows.

Lynne went first..

''Ryan Joel Chamberlain, I have loved you ever since I met you two years ago. I was walking past you in the cafeteria of PCU and we locked eyes. I fell in love with you that day. I was too afraid to act on it because of what I heard about you. But then my heart told me to ignore those things and just be happy and tell you how I felt. I watched you and you are sweet, kind, understanding, unique guy who I happen to love. I will love you forever and cherish you all the days of my life. I love you Ryan.''

''Bethany-Lynne Lawrence, I also have loved you since we met two years ago. I fell madly in love with you that day too. I could tell you were kind of afraid of me because of what you heard. I would never hurt you. You are my heart, home, refuge from the storm, my best friend and my world. Lynne, I will honor and love you and cherish you all the days of my life. I love you Ly.''

''Then I found out I was pregnant and then lost the baby. And that is when the whole thing came crashing down around me...''

Oh, can't you see it baby? You don't have to close your eyes 'cos it's standing right before you. All that you need will surely come..

''Oh, my God! Is it the baby?'' Kristen asked.

''Yeah. I think I am going to loose my baby.'' Lynne wailed.''Destiny or Kristen help me!!''

''Alright. Des, call Dr. Neumann and tell her Lynne is having contractions and needs to be admitted. Lynne come with me, let's get you to the car and to the hospital. Ryan you are not welcome..not after what you did.''

''How far apart are the contractions? How far are you into the pregnancy?'' Dr. Neumann asked.

''I..am three months pregnant and the contractions are one every five minutes. I cannot loose this baby. Please help me and my baby Lidia.'' Lynne pleaded.

''Let's see if we can find a heartbeat for this little one.'' Lidia said, trying to stay optomistic for Lynne's sake.

Destiny was holding her sisters hand and tried to keep the air light until they found out about the unborn baby growing inside of Lynne.

Later..

''Lidia what is it?'' Lynne asked as a fresh wave of terror mixed with sadness washed over her.

''Lynne, I cannot find a heartbeat. I am so sorry but the baby is gone. I did everything I could. We will do a D&C tonight.''

''Oh, Destiny, I cannot believe I lost this baby. I know Ryan did not want it but I did!'' Lynne said realizing that she lost the one thing that would have saved her marriage to Ryan all because she got too stressed.''Des. I am going to divorce Ryan.''

''Lucy. I am going to get him back. I cannot let him go. Please understand and back me up here?''

''If that is what you want then I am behind you and always will be.'' Lucy grinned.

After Lucy made sure that Lynne was asleep, Lucy covered her up and kissed her on the forehead. 'Poor girl' she thought. Then she tip-toed out of the room and closed the door softly behind her.

Then she sought out her man. She needed someone to talk to about what Lynne had decided. Was Lucy doing the right thing by helping a broken Lynne get back with the very man who broke her? She did not know. But she wanted to help anyway she could.

''Lucy, how is Lynne?'' Kevin asked pulling his love into an embrace. ''She is fine. She was just questioning whether or not the divorce was a mistake. I told her that she needed to follow her heart and she would never go wrong.'' Lucy said.''She talked about some very special times in her life with Ryan. The first time she fell in love with him, their wedding, discovering she was pregnant, loosing the child, the divorce.''

''She has been through so much for a 21 year old. I wish there was a way for me to take that pain away and give her he last three months of her life back.'' Kevin said.

''There may be a way to do that Doc. She told me that she wants Ryan back. Even after everything he did to her and the baby. She really loves him Doc.'' Lucy said.''Just like I love you.''

''How much do you love and trust me Lucy?'' Kevin asked.

''Why Doc having doubts about me?'' Lucy said.''I will show you how much I trust and love you later!'

' ''Come on I have a surpise for you.'' Kevin said.''But we have to stop by my office at GH first. Come on lets go.''

''Alright. Let me leave Lynne a note'' Lucy said as she looked for paper and pen.

When she found what she was looking for she wrote:

Went to my house with Doc. Stoping at the hospital first. Call or page me if you need me.

Lucy

Charlene had been waiting for Kevin for about an hour and was getting impatient. She had other things to do besides wait. She was about to leave when the door to Kevin's office opened and in walked Kevin and Lucy.

''Doc, will I like this surpise? You didn't have to you know. I love--'' Lucy stopped when she realized there was someone in the room.

''Lucille Monica?'' Charlene asked. ''Aunt Charlene.'' Lucy said to her aunt. Pulling Kevin to the side she said in a hushed whisper. ''What is SHE doing her and why am I her WITH her?''

''I'll answer that if you don't mind Doc Collins.'' Charlene said.''Lucy, I have come to tell you something wonderful that you have to know.''

''What? That Colton dropped off the face of the earth? What could you tell me that is more wonderful than that?'' Lucy said with a smugness in her voice.''I left Jennings to get AWAY from you! I told Lynnette and Emily not to tell you where I was going.''

''But--'' Charlene began to explain.

''But NOTHING! You ruin my marriage to Tony because you could not keep your mouth shut about the Kevin O'Connor thing. Something that I would have told him IF I thought it was important. I find it intresting that you disappear and leave me alone when I am NOT in a relationship but the SECOND I find one and start forming one you come and create this sob story about finding your long lost niece..'' Lucy ripped into Charlene.

''Listen to me Lucille. Remember that one night in Jennings, you know the one I mean, well it turns out that your baby is alive.'' Charlene said.

''NO! My daughter is dead! You told me so. You told me that Bethany-Lynne was dead. How could you do this to me? Kevin could I have a minute with my aunt please?'' Lucy asked.

''Sure. I will be right out side if you need me, Lucy.''

''Thanks, Doc.''

After Kevin got out into the hall the thought crossed his mind..could Ryan's Lynne be Lucy's daughter Bethany-Lynne Coe?

Chapter 20

Kevin's office

Lucy looked at her aunt with a look that could kill. She could not believe that--well she COULD believe that her aunt would come and claim that her daughter was alive and well after all these years.

''Lucille, what is it? Did I say something wrong?'' Charlene asked knowing full well she in fact HAD said too much. But she wanted to get the reaction out of Lucy that she ALWAYS got from her in the past.

''Charlene, what did I EVER do to you to deserve what you have done to me over the years.'' Lucy asked barely controlling her anger towards her aunt.

''Why Lucy, I do not know what you are talking about. I have not don anything to you for you to get mad at me for.'' Charlene said with innocence.

Not being able to take it any more Lucy said.''Um...News flash for you Charlene. You HAVE and you KNOW it! Remember when I was married to Tony Jones? What did you and your precious Colton and Decker do then? Come on admit it! I could get Tony in here and he could tell you chapter and verse what you did. Oh, by the way did I happen to mention that Tony and I are friends?''

Now Lucy knew that her aunt did not know this and was using it to get the information out of her that she wanted and needed.

''Alright! I might have let it slip about what happened with Kevin O'Connor, but honestly I thought that you would have told Tony about that. As for what Colton did that was NOT my fault. You two have fought since I can remember.''

''Charlene, you leave Colton out of this. This is between YOU and ME. Now why did you say, in front of Kevin I might add, that my baby was alive? I had not told him about the baby.'' Lucy said.

''Lucy, sit down and hear me out. Decker was on the web the other day and found a picture and description of a girl, complete with baby pictures, that looked like your daughter, Bethany-Lynne Coe. The one I told you that died, Lucy the truth is I had her put up for adoption secretly because I knew you wanted to keep her and you were too young to be a mother and a student. I was just doing what was best for you AND her at the time.''

''You could have told me that you put her up for adoption, instead of telling me that she was dead. Do you remember what I went through because you told me that? Do you? DO YOU!?'' Lucy asked loosing control. ''Doc? Come in here please!''

Kevin wasted no time. He walked right over to Lucy and held her as she said..

''Kevin I have to tell you something. I have not been completely honest with you about my senior year of high school. The rape was NOT by my father it was by my boyfriend. I became pregnant and even though the baby resulted from what he did to me, I vowed to keep it. But when I went into labor they discovered that they had to do a Caesarean Section (C-Section). And when I woke up the doctors told me I had given birth to a baby girl but she had died during birth. Little did I know at the time, Charlene had ACTUALLY put her up for adoption.'' Lucy said with tears falling down her cheeks.''I should have told you but I was afraid of how you would have reacted.''

''It is okay, Lucy. You did not want to relive the pain of loosing your baby girl. Charlene didn't you say her name was Bethany-Lynne?'' Kevin asked holding Lucy.

''I was the one that named her when I found out I had a girl. That was the only thing that Aunt Charlene did right, she asked, I am guessing, the family to let her keep the name I gave her.'' Lucy said.

''I did do exactly that Lucy. It was the least I could do for you if you ever found out. Bethany-Lynne was adopted, legally, by Jannette and Daniel Lawrence from Lake Raines, New York.''

''Ohmigod! Did you just say Lawrence?''

''Yeah.''

''Kevin! Ryan's Lynne is MY daughter!''

Ryan's hideout

''I need her!'' Ryan blurted out after the song ended.''Dear Lord, I need her so much. How could I have been so dumb and cheat on the best thing that has ever happened to me?''

''Excuuuse me? You are regretting the whole thing? Well fine! Go! But this is NOT over! I always get what I want. No matter what the cost!'' Tamera said.

''My child DIED because of what we did, Tamera! But I guess to you that is not a high enough price! I do NOT love you, I NEVER will love you. I love Lynne and Lynne alone.'' Ryan said.

Tamera had just about enough of the greatest love story ever told. She decided to walk away with a little dignity.

Turning to face him, she wiped the tears from her cheeks and said,''Ryan, I love you. I know you don't love me but I hope that we can at least be friends.''

''I don't think so. Not right now. Tamera, I need to go now.'' Ryan said.
