Kelantan also known as the Land of Lightning, has always been one of the Malaysian states that I've wanted so much to see. My friends would ask me Going to Kelantan ? What for ?? You have to cover up you know (which is offcourse not true; just be decently dressed lah). That's just one of the stories painted about Kelantan coz it's under PAS and is conservative.   Well folks you see Kelantan has much to offer to visitors, it is charming in it's own way; culturally rich and hence dubbed the Cradle of Malay Culture. You can get to see weekly performances of Mak Yong, Silat, gasing, dikir barat, asyik dances at the Balai Kesenian.  I was fortunate that my visit to Kelantan on September 1999 coincides with Karnival Kebudayaan Kelantan. Kelantan is also famous for it's food ... there's plenty of food with wonderful names too. Nasi Kerabu, Nasi Dagang, Ayam Percik, Tepung Pelita, Taik Itik, Jala Emas, Lompat Tikam, Laksam and many many more can be easily bought at the Pasar Malam or Pasar Besar Khadijah. Mind you Kelantanese loves sweet things, so the food is definitely not for the diabetics. Ambo Suko Kelate , I will definitely come back for more!
