My first experience at a show was a big happening!

Before we arrived at Park hall, I was scared to bits by the noise coming from the rattling wheels under the benches of my four legged friends. I was surrounded by several foreign languages. They came from all over the world with their best of breed.
Mama carried me up the grand stairs of the hall. I could not believe my eyes as I saw the couple from kennel "Jacqueline's Dream" each with one shih tzu under an arm, bringing all their show equipment and two benches, all up in one piece on the escalator. Wow, such teamwork!
The veterinary surgeon made sure I was not missing one of my two marbles. After that we finally arrived at our show ring #58 and I got my show # 11649. My goodness there were 92 shih tzu participants. At 9.30 A.M. sharp, they played our Dutch anthem. For a minute I thought I was in a football stadium. The puppy dogs were first to start. The judge was our national honorable Pieter Burema. The show could begin!
The puppy dogs had to walk in a row around in the ring. Than I had to stand nicely and still while mama was brushing my coat. When it was my turn to stand on the table the judge start to inspect my dental and my eyes and measured my head and feel all around my body and 4 legs. After that he held my head under my chin and touched my nose with his nose like the eskimo's do. He asked mama to walk a triangle with me and straight up and down. Than I had to do it together with my litter brother Sherman Khan of The Wilacks who also participate this show with our breeder. The judge decided that I was the best puppy dog. And a little later I had to do the show all over again with the best puppy bitch and you know what? I became the "very promising" World Winner Best Puppy!
The Shih Tzu Club Netherlands had a surprise for each participant. It was a rosette in the club colors yellow & black with sashes in our national flag colours red, white & blue, as a remembrance from the World Winner Dog Show 2002 event.  Oh , I also got a larger rosette for my achievement that day as #1 Very Promising Best Puppy Dog. Instead of jumping for joy I instantly left my wet traces at the spot, on the show carpet.
I had to wait for six hours before I could perform in the Ring of Honour from the Europe hall within half hour walk from Park hall in RAI building. The judge Mrs. R.D.M. Tromp-Pruijn did not show up in time. When she finally arrived she hardly noticed I was there. She had her preference for white and black colored puppies as her outfit that day. I was relieved or else I had to come back on Sunday and present myself once again with winners of the other three days. Another surprise was the WWDS medal I received, real big one.
I was not content to be transported in the bench. I made sure that mama find an appropriate solution. And so..... as an emperor worthy I laid on top of the bench on a comfy rug. This way I could over look everything we passed by at the fair.

Need I say more....?

My second show was the Puppy Show in Waalwijk, 15 September 2002

There were 180 puppies from all kind of breed who performed in eight round's and did their best in five different rings. And within each ring there were two judges.
I was injured on my left eye only three weeks before this show and you could still see it was red all over. Never the less mama wanted to give it a try so I can get used to being touched and judged. And so I made it until the 5th round.
I got my first for encouragement as all the other participant puppies got one too.

My first "Junior Class" show28 September 2002

International Dog Show Maastricht, Judge: Mr. R. Bayliss UK

Judge for Brace/Couple Class Mr. W. Hochstenbach

It was a four hour drive by car to the south of Holland where we arrived the day before the show and stayed in a hotel next to the MECC. I was very nervous because I did not know what was going to happen and why are we not sleeping in our own home. So I fell a sleep just before two o'clock in the morning, I was restless and kept mama awake. It was my first time to stay far from home.
Anyway I became first in my class and was judged excellent! Yang Yang was also excellent in the Open class and placed 4th. Xiao Li was also excellent but not placed.
But in the Brace/Couple class Yang Yang & Xiao Li were placed as 3rd in the Ring of Honor. Mama was moved to tears because it was the first time she presented YY & Xli in the Brace class and both where so elegant, accompanied with the music of Johan Strauss by André Rieu.
And the three of us each got a medal too for participating.

International Dog Show "De Utrecht" 27 October 2002

Judge: Mr. F. Matzen and Judge for Group Class Mr. A. van de Snee

Good gracious several participants did not show up due to stormy weather we had on this memorable day. We were advised not to leave our home but stay inside. It had not been this severe since the past 12 years. Therefore Boy Boy was the only one in his junior class because 3 participants did not show up. Xiao Li was upset of the weather and Yang Yang was not feeling well this day but never the less "We are the champions my friend..." It was the first time we showed our self as a group. Mama thought it would be nice to see how the three of us will perform as a group for once. And YES we did it against all odds. This time mama was scared to bits.

International Dog Show Bleiswijk

2 November 2002 Judge Mr. K.D. Sinclair UK

This was my trial show to do without Yang Yang and Xiao Li before going to Paris Euro Dog Show. I didn't like it at all today. Further more nothing exiting. Except mama was complaining about the floor... it was terribly dirty and no carpet. I was placed second in junior class and judged excellent . This is what the judge said about me: "Shaded mask gold, good head and expression. Good top line, sound mover and well ribbed. Could have slightly more neck" that's all.
Last week I was placed first and judged very good and the judge said about me: "Young dog of 10 month. Good masculine head with correct expression for it's breed. Good eye, ear and dental. Body and bone already in balance for his age. Height and length proportion not optimal today. Sound mover through the ring but carries his tail a little to far. Already a very beautiful coat for his age" that's it.

For you to judge...

02-11-2002 excellent #2                            27-10-2002 very good #1
