Clinton-Sherman Fire Department
hires the best and most qualified people from the area. Upon a vacancy occurring
within the fire department, the Southwestern Oklahoma Development Authority
(our parent administrative entity) places ads within all area newspapers to
alert possible candidates that applications are being sought. Candidates are
directed to submit applications/resumes to the Oklahoma State Employment
Service, whose local offices are located in Clinton and Altus, Oklahoma.
W
hen the prescribed time for applications has elapsed, individual applicationsare screened for the interview process. After personnel interviews are completed,
prospective applicants are sent through a physical agility test, and medical workup,
to determine if their physical abilities meet N.F.P.A. guidelines.
U
pon acceptance, individuals are placed in a probationary status for a period ofsix months, after which they are upgraded to permanent status.
D
uring the first two years of service with the department, individuals are thenPut through a very rigorous training schedule, during which they will achieve
Firefighter II status, attain First Responder certification, and participate in
ARFF training.
