Chapter 3 Living with Palliative Care - Coping with disabilities, and maintaining quality of life

Introduction

As stated in the last paper “Living with a Stent”, the stent has given me more than four months of being able to eat normal foods, including hot Thai foods in restaurants. Lately, since late February, 2000, I have been having some difficulty eating solid foods. Tests show that the stent is clear and the stomach is in reasonable shape so I hoped that I have some more time with a reasonable quality of life available yet.  It is obvious that the obstruction is caused more and more by the cancer spreading in the stomach and beyond. There is little that can be done surgically or by Chemotherapy or radiation to stop or slow down this spread
