Local Union 343 has over 450 proud members working at nine workplaces in the Kingston - Napanee - Belleville area. We represent workers at Alcan Aluminium Ltd., C.E. MacPherson Steel, LaFarge Concrete Kingston, LaFarge Concrete Belleville, Hartford Fibres, Herbies Drug Warehouse, Canadian Waste Systems Napanee, C.E. Pipe, and Pine Meadow Nursing Home, Northbrook.

The Local Union meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month at our hall located at 206 Concession Street, Kingston, Ontario, Canada K7K 2B5.

Regular monthly meetings begin at 6:30 P.M.

Each unit of the Local Union has its own Unit Officers and these
officers are elected every 3 years and positions are Unit Chairperson,
Unit Vice-Chair / Secretary, and Unit Grievor.

We hold monthly meetings for our Local Union Stewards on the last Wednesday of each month, at 4:30 P.M. at the Steelworkers Hall.

Local 343 has recently updated it by-lays since completeing the process of amalgamation in 1998.
The By-laws of Amalgamated Local Union 343
were approved by the USWA International Secretary-Treasurer, Leo Gerard on April 14, 2000.

Local Union 343 has a history the dates 55 years and on our 50th anniversary in 1995
we produced a history book, Making The Difference 50 Years Of Local 343 United Steelworkers Of America
We now have that book available on-line or to download in a word document file.

CFM Majestic Info Picket
Bob Ogilive of Local 343 at an information picket of Union Energy in Kingston in support of striking CFM Majestic workers in Toronto. The police were called to try to move the picket. The steelworker unit successfully negotiated a first agreement the day of this protest, which was carried out across the province in many communities.
