hmmmmm...okay, I'll take Baby Spice alone on a deserted island for six months...and there'll be nothing to eat but shellfish, select tropical fruits and other natural aphrodisiacs...hmmm...and the climatic conditions will be best for our few clothes to rot away at an optimum rate...oh, you want to bring the rest of the girls, Baby? Sure!!! Only one thing...don't sing!
On a more practical note I'd like a secretary. A 72 hour day. A single normal day where ISP, HTML editor and modem connection worked together perfectly, thus ending the need for a 72 hour day. Maybe even a secretary. Moreso, with all the problems as late with Yahoo (Mailbot gone mad, File Manager that's lost the ability to alphabetize, etc.), I really, really want them to get a new song for the club chats!
No, this won't be a rant editorial though it could be. I hate being late, forgive me, but this has been a good week again in developments despite being a bad one on most other fronts. Some one say it, please..."Monty, get over it!"
There! Feel better now! So tell me folks, what do you want, do you really, really want? If we don't have it already let me know! Great sponsors are coming to us, we got game out the wazoo and many wonderful things are happening!
Largely due to the many new sponsors (see the 'Spotlight' below) the cities of Union Town and New Washington have been completely restructured! Still in the works as far as shoppe placement goes, the 'blocks' in both are taking shape and the first two on entry are pretty much as they will be for some time to come! Whew! Glad that much is done!
An important new addition to the Library is the 'text' The Dragon Keeper, which goes well beyond the 'nature of the beast' in a mere fantasy context. I have spoken with FemmeDragon, one of their leaders, and it seems an alliance is imminent! ::crosses his fingers, knocks on wood::
Any who have really, really read Union's Historical Texts and Works of Wisdom know well the significance of dragons in our 'mythos'. If we hadn't found Femme I would have someday taken on the momentous task of creating our 'Dragons' Forum' but would have fallen far short of the great work she and hers have accomplished! Great work Femme, glad to have you in our Union and Library! Now just keep repeating to yourself, 'Alliance, Alliance, Alliance...' (!!!)
Partly due to her assistance and ideas I had while visiting her club, the Nation of Union has now become our IC FF/BBRPG arena! (See the article "Commons' Records" below) I'd had this in mind for some time so now we begin the game in ernest! Look over the past several posts for how to play and the rules involved.
Also, Mage and I are dying to see who will win their choice of IRL prizes (up to three now, each worth over $20!!!) in the 'Mages and Mysteries' contest (yep, same article below!)! I thought by now someone would have had it because to me it seems so apparent...but then I wrote all this! Give it a go though, the prize is right under your nose!
An important note is that events at the Nation will become part of Union history! The first book of Union as it was four years ago IRL (about 25 years game time, covering the beginning of the Dragon Wars, which may be read in part as Dragons at Dawn) is still slated for publication in Spring 2002...come be a part of our living history!
Since I've already started with X-Wing I will continue to do game reviews here until such time as some articles are submitted (hint, hint!). Seeing Age of Empires is a popular game at The MSN Gaming Zone I thought I'd give it a try and was truly amazed! There is a free MMRPable demo at the Zone so the total cost of playing is....let me get my calculator...hmmmm....NOTHING!!!
Now me being Monty I didn't want to be embarassed by getting severely whipped my first few (???) go rounds so I went to my local Wal-Mart and found a copy for $10 that came with a really nifty card generator. The game is amazing!!! I have been told the later upgrades and versions just keep getting better but the original is awesome!
Play is very much like Warcraft but my one complaint is an almost total absence of magic and mythical beasts in the game...I like more fantasy in my fantasy MMRPing! Still, it beats all the WC series on graphics, layout and interface. The look is much more realistic, the controls are 'in your face' easy to get too and, when you get used to the hot keys set up, you have awesome control over your little folks running around the screen!
Given a choice I'd still much prefer WC if I'm going to sit for hours to play. (Never having played a real opponent; but realizing the more evenly matched the players, the longer the game will last; I can't get through a single-player campaign in either in less than two hours!) Still, a majority don't agree and there were, at last count, four folks posting at the Tavern in search of other AoE players!
Because of the long play and advanced strategy of the game I'm going for now to allow Knights 5 points for a win and 1 just to play in AoE, WC and StarCraft! As far as tactics, formations and all around good command skills these games rule! I'll post for a shot at someone as soon as I'm able...but let it be WC or SC for me!
To top it all off there is a $50,000 contest at the Zone for international players...sign up soon if you are interested and remember us at Union when in the tournament! Its a great way for us to get some recognition and I encourage any who play the game well to go for it!
...its been three months on the island and things have got really, really bad. As I sit by what I thought was a hidden beach, I ponder I should have really, really added basic cosmetics and, well, hygiene items to the stuff I really, really wanted. The girls got very umkempt after just a few days, some bemoaning the abscence of their personal beauticians and frankly, a few days later they got really really ripe!
As time progressed the sun and overly dank conditions I'd really, really asked for had an effect on all of us as well. Cracked skin, strange growths and other physical anamolies too gross to mention were soon taking hold...and worsening! Yuck!
And was it I who really, really told them not to sing?!? DOH!!! At least then they got some exercise dancing and, not a huge fan of their songs, I really, REALLY liked that part of their act! Instead they just sat around eating the really, really fattening food I asked for, becoming increasingly really, really round!
My reverie is broken by Posh...argh, she found me! She toils to carry her now huge frame over to me, should have smelled her coming, and says gutterally (because of the strange growths in all our throats now), "What do you want, what do you really, really want?"
"Um, can we go home now?"

~ The New Union's 1st Unconfirmed 'Kill' ~
Had to add this...a Union Knight in all probability has had one 'god-moder' thrown off the net, losing his IRL ISP priveledges! Take this as a warning god-moders and as a ray of hope all others...a very real function of the Union Knights is to see the psychological abuses abounding in many so-called RPG's are eradicated from the internet!
This isn't to say we care if you hack and slash yourselves to tiny ribbons, rape, pillage and plunder each other to your hearts desire or whatever ye like in your own realms provided all there are in agreement to your rules...or total lack thereof!
I sometimes wish I had time to return to the fray and may one day soon but, alas, matters of state call me. Still, I should shortly again have a secretary to free more time for some very real and needed 'gaming'!

Mages and Mysteries FFRPG
Everyone has noticed the strange Mage who refers to himself as Mayhem lurking
about Union's gate. Who is this man? Why is he here? Herein lies a mystery
for all who wish to search for clues to who this man truly is and what omens
his appearance brings Union. Your only hint: The answers are in Union,
somewhere! Meet in the Tavern (OOC) and Keep (IC) to discuss your findings. An IRL
prize will be awarded the member(s) who might solve this enigma!
Union Keep Public Records

While the mood was light it seems all in attendace were quite preoccupied or tired, myself near the point of exhaustion! I hope this nae brought the disdain of the Lady Axiom upon her first visit...being not only a new member but a leader herself of a realm with which we now seek alliance!
Some topics discussed, including some terms of the above Alliance, were:
* Keep Behavior. When entering the Keep please realize you are in my home. Weapons and any items arcane or mundane which may be used as such should be left at home or shall vanish magically upon your entrance to my Keep.
Any assaults or personal conflicts have no place here. I wish an air of joviality to be present even in heated debate and NO COMBAT WILL BE TOLERATED! Union Law, especially Codes of Conduct will be much more strictly administered here and few warnings need be given!
Any calls of other realms ((OOC OOC chat)) should best be left for another time and place. The Tavern is now the accepted place for this and any are free at anytime to post or chat about these matters there.
This will take some time for us all and also most newcomers so I shall ever be very lenient, but I beg you try your best to comply at all times because this is our one hour of the week to have fellowship as we are here.
Matters of state may still be discussed and Council meetings will retain their usual nature as we so meet to improve our Union on all levels. Still, unless it is a matter of gravest urgency, the weekly Commons meeting should include Council issues in a light and cheerful manner.
Formal 'Dress' ((OOC text color)) is desired but never required. Creative clothings (and may I say lack thereof?!?!) are of a personal preference and may be better described to those poor of sight. For instance, upon my entrance to the Keep I am usually in my dress 'Knight Blues' robe with golden armor.
* Library Additions. Any literary works of or suggested by members who seek their inclusion to the Library where the books are complete ((OOC already on a webpage)) may petition Lord Monty and/or Council for inclusion of said text.
Works pertaining specifically to Union or conforms to existing Union history and wisdoms may be brought to me and, upon my approval and after rights negotiations are complete, will myself see to their binding ((OOC webpage creation)) and possible future distribution ((OOC IRL publishing under Union copyright)).
It is my firm belief that the works of the artist should remain their own in accordance to Universal Law and will grant great liberties to the creators of such Union texts. However any works created for Union must always in any agreement set forth be exclusively for use of our Union. This, of course, will not forego rewrites of said texts where no Union rights are violated.
One such ongoing project is the recreation of the Book of Walther the holy text of our god of war. It has been so agreed and shall remain that all contributing writers will recieve compensation equal to 50% of thier total contribution to this work after the costs of publication should it reach this point.
Therefore if ye know of any remnants of this text and wish to rewrite them given the conditions above please contact me.
* The Matter of the Mage known as Mayhem. Yes, I know him well! He has secrets agreed but don't we all? Any who wish to invetigate more into the nature of this man who opens magickal portals throughout our land are free to do so! I have promised my silence to him on these issues...but have been known to slip from time to time!
I do understand also a reward ((OOC IRL !!!)) has been posted in the Gateway for such information. If this be what ye seek, who am I to discourage ye?

Lord/Lady of Law (LL): Union Council post in desperate need of filling!
This position currently requires less than three hours work per week and
entails:
* A working knowledge of Union Law and a willingness to see it enforced
throughout our realms.
High Priest/Priestess: This Post requires assisting Monty in the rebuilding
of the Palace Temple and overseeing the recruitment and training of incoming
priests. Some ceremonial duties may include conducting marriages and
christenings. Applicant should be of sound moral character and tolerant of
the beliefs of others.
Union Knights: Always 'hiring'! please read the handbook at the Library and
now in the Knights' Keep ('runes' above). If ye have the metal and courage
to join us, please do! No duties required but rank may be gained swiftly
for: Tavern Hosts, FFRPG Proctors, Game Masters and Recruiters,to name a
