Ametrius' Reawakening
See also But for the Three, a song by Darthon Songweaver allegedly prophetic of this and event and those yet to unfold.
Ametrius dreamed of flying in great battles, victories hard won and, strangely, a song he'd heard in those times that made little sense...
The great dragon flexed his wings and opened his wide maul in only what could be called a yawn in mortal terms. He had fought valiantly in the Dragon Wars of Union and had but a scant twenty years' sleep since. Who would dare disturb his slumber...except...
"Ametrius?" a voice as sweet as the golden honey of finest fields near flowed in his ears...
THE GODS!!!
Ametrius stood on all fours immediately, then bowed his huge head before the visage of Sara, the fallen queen of his greatest battle and now Goddess of Good.
"My Lady!" Ametrius replied and bowed even more.
"Ametrius, I have a duty for you. This is of the greatest import to my people and so yours." Sara's command was soft as velvet, her benign vision that of the lovely woman with golden flowing hair she had been while mortal.
"All ye ask be yours be it in my power, M'Lady!" Ametrius proclaimed as best he could, still awakening from his short slumber.
Sara smiled a smile that could bring warmth to the coldest heart, hope to any bereft of any faith of a coming day.
"Your battles are yet undone, old friend. There is a mortal not of my blood but of my heart and is the very soul of all of us. He be the son of Darthon."
Ametrius shook his massive head, gaining a bit of lucidity both in his mind and of her words. It was thought by all after the passage of Darthon from mortal to god of music that all on Plaenthkor would be well and no need for Union should ever again exist beyond that of government. He stood in awe and pondered her communication.
"Union has fallen into disarray since the death of my husband. Their leaders are untrustworthy, uncaring or, worst still, seek to destroy Union for whatever spoils they may take. Any evil they may create will beset Union save for the works of this babe...and you."
"The song, M'Lady...that was Darthon?"
"Aye"
"But who be the third of the three?"
"Only time will reveal him to thee!" Sara disappeared in a flash of the brightest white light, then Ametrius found himself as a human in a strange land, unable to transform to his normal state.
