Canada Place (Aerial)

One of the major landmarks on the Vancouver waterfront is Canada Place. It is a grand building built to look like a large sailing vessel. It is the home to the Pan Pacific Hotel, a five star hotel, the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre, the CN Imax theatre, and 2 Port of Vancouver cruise ship berths. It is currently being expanded to allow for one more cruise ship berth.

In this picture, you are standing at the front entrance of the Pan Pacific Hotel at Canada Place. Looking eastward, you can spot Harbour Centre and it's distinctive tower.

Harbour Centre is a member of the International Towers Association. At the top is a revolving viewing area that gives visitors a panoramic view of the harbour and the rest of the city.

Library Square

Built in 1995, Library Square is the central branch of the Vancouver Public Library system. Designed by Canadian Moshe Safdie, it is a truly distinct landmark. The building is built in the style of an old Roman colosseum.

Upon entering the building, you enter a large atrium that reaches right to the top of the building. Little shops and cafes line the bottom of the atrium. The library itself is an impressive 7 floors high and is home to thousands upon thousands of books, magazines, and newspapers. Study carralls line the outside of the "colosseum wall" allowing students to have a bird's eye view of the street below.
