Introduction Welcome to my family history pages, an attempt to share what I've learned over the last few years. You'll find a number of different things here:
My original thought was to start with my direct line ancestors and their families, adding in other known descendents as life allows. Once I remembered that there more than one thousand people in my tree, I discarded this idea. After finally finding a program that would do something very close to what I want (GedHTree), I've brought most half of my tree online at once. Where I have only the word of the IGI (International Genealogy Index) for a relationship, I've left that information out. I have mistakenly left out some spouses of various cousins while including their children. This looks to be due to a not quite perfect export job on the gedcom used to create the pages and I will fix this as soon as possible. The basic index page is here, and you'll find me here. The bare bones pages for my direct line ancestors are completed. The next round will see photos, and biographical information added to these. The main surname lines you'll find here are FISHER, FRANCIS, GLASSCOCK, HANSEN, HURTIGKARL, KEABLE, MARTIN, PEDERSEN, PAYNE, PEDERSEN, SCHONBERG, SCHØNBERG, plus a variety of patronymics. Other direct line surnames, for which I have only one or two ancestors for so far: BYHURST, GODWIN/GOODWIN, HEAD, HILL, LANGE, MILLER, SÆBY, and WILLIS. A large variety of other surnames link in with the multitude of descendents of my ancestors. Notes There are a couple of notes pages that are worth looking at, and I say that not just because I wrote them. First, a long winded background page explaining the development of my interest in the hobby. Second, there is a note on patronymics and naming conventions for the Danish side of my family. Lastly, I've included a brief blurb on spelling conventions I've followed. Don't read anything you don't want to. If you want to know more about an ancestor or relative I've listed on the site, or the parents or children of someone listed, drop me a note and ask. At worst, I won't have anything. I might have something I just haven't posted or that the conversion software didn't recognize as important enough to include. Above all, take everything you find in these pages with a grain (or kilogram) of salt. I haven't confirmed everything here with more than one source. Some "facts" and dates are assumptions or estimates based on hints in various records, on secondary sources or conversations with older relatives. But if I only posted what I'm 100% certain of (as if that's entirely possible), these pages would be a lot smaller and fewer. Source quotes will get fleshed out beyond the basics over time as my own time and research allows. Thank You I've had lots of help with my research over the last seven years, but there are a few people that stand out for shear volume of material they've shared or the amount of pestering they've put up with during that time. My parents. Many questions, nearly as many answers, plus shared photographs and memories. Never once have they turned me away, regardless of the subject. My Grandmother. My last remaining grandparent, actually, may she live forever. I haven't pestered her nearly enough and hope she doesn't mind all of the questions I have yet to ask. There will always be more I want to know. Lena. Without whom the tree stretching back from my father's mother would be very bare. She's been at this quite a lot longer than I have and has contacted various cousins in various parts of the world. Sandra. A distant relation through my FISHER line who's shared the fruits of her own research, some of which is here, pushing me back another generation and providing me with a couple of hundred descendents of our common ancestor, Joseph FISHER. She's also connected me with two other distant cousins related through the same ancestor, Elva and Ken, whose research is contained in the Sandra files. Birgit. Who, through only a little sporadic contact, has added a number of generations to several lines on my father's side. Her husband connects to me on the Hurtigkarl line. Corrections and Feedback Typos and errors in transcription happen. I'll freely admit to those when they're pointed out. If you find something wrong with my research, send me an e-mail with the subject "Possible Error." Include details and source(s) to back you up. Messages that just tell me something is wrong without letting me know how to verify and fix it go into the delete folder. A similar message for feedback. I've tried to organize things so that they make logical sense. If they don't, or if there's a problem or a broken link (there are a lot of these right now because the pages don't exist yet - just worry about broken external links for now), say so but be constructive. Otherwise the message disappears. Schonberg Line Hansen Line Payne Line Fisher Line Generated Pages Family Stories Family Legends Photos Brick Walls |
