Really, almost anything can be a resource to a writer. Here are a few sites that I've found particularly helpful in the area of writing how-to's. Canadian Authors' Association - Many, many resources for Canadian writers and authors. Science Fiction Writers of America - Mainly resources and articles relating to the craft of writing Science Fiction and/or Fantasy, but there is some more generic stuff here too. Tips on Writing Military Science Fiction by William S. Frisbee Jr. - Mister Frisbee is a former Marine NCO and a veteran of Desert Storm and Desert shield. Lots of good basic info on infantry tactics here up to the company level. A solid starting point if you're interested in writing Military Fiction, SF or otherwise. Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest - How bad can bad writing get? A contest that turns bad opening sentences into an art form. |
