2005 Reunion Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 10:00am by the host, Leon Levin leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Leon welcomed everyone to the 5th Tom Green County LST 1159 Reunion. He introduced his co-host, Marlene Levin. He mentioned this successful reunion is all due to Marlene and she handled and organized the entire reunion. The men gave Marlene a standing ovation. She gave a very moving speech about the shipmates and what they mean to her. She also said seeing the camaraderie between the men was very moving to her. Marlene also mentioned because of her strong feelings, that if an opportunity came up in the future, she would host another reunion.

New Business

Ed Lange presented "Proposal For Expanding Voting Ability of the Ships Company" and "Recommendation For Amendment Changes". There was a discussion followed by a vote. There were 19 YES votes vs. 23 NO votes. At this time this proposal was voted down. A few shipmates requested a copy of the By Laws. Ed Lange will send these to Bill Haack to put in the ICHI ICHI GO KU.

Pete Olson is taking Tex Wordon's place from Cruise #1 for the Mag 7.

Discussion was brought up where to hold the LST 1159 2006 Reunion. Also mentioned was that a volunteer would have to come forward at this time to host the location. The two locations brought up were Branson, MO and The Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas. There was a vote of the two locations. The results were:

Las Vegas - 29
Branson - 21

Las Vegas is the designated location for the LST 1159 2006 Reunion. Marlene Levin at this time volunteered to host it once again.

The meeting was adjourned at Noon.
