Since Nancy is a 1st cousin of my great-grandfather, Arthur Humfleet, and a double 1st cousin of my great-grandmother, Susan (Sasser) Taylor (on both the Sasser and Gilbert sides), Nancy is my TRIPLE 1st cousin-THREE times removed, in addition to being my great-great-aunt by marriage, her husband being a brother of my great-grandfather, Abe Cobb. |

Will's father Perry Moore is a brother to Robert's grandmother Sally (Moore) Cobb; thus, Will and Robert are 2nd cousins-once removed. Will's 2nd wife Rythie Cox is the daughter of Bill Cox, who is a brother to Bertha's mother, Bam (Cox) Cobb; thus, Berth & Rythie are 1st cousins. |
On their Cobb sides, Berth & Robert are double-cousins. Berth's father Ambers Cobb is a brother to Robert's grandfather Abe Cobb, so through Ambers, Berth & Robert are 2nd cousins-once removed. On Berth's mother's side (Bam's side), Berth's gg-grandmother Polly (Cobb) Jarvis is a sister to Robert's gg-grandfather Thomas Cobb, so through Bam, Berth & Robert are 4th cousins. Berth & Robert are probably also cousins on the Tuttle side, but the Tuttle inter-relationships haven't yet been confirmed. |
After Berth and Robert divorced, Robert married Boone's (Bertha's brother's) former wife, Nannie (Sasser-Gilbert) Cobb. Bertha took back her maiden name .....and never remarried. |

pictured left-to-right Tollie Perry, Sid Moore and Ish Cobb |
Ish Cobb's Death per Cuz Glenn Earl Perry was sent to a CCC ( Civilian Conservation Corps) camp in Wyoming, along with other young men from around Big Richland. They worked on the Devil's Tower National Park [decades later, this park became globally famous, due to the motion picture, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"]. There was a mumps epidemic, and some of them --those who either had contracted the disease or had just been exposed-- were transported by bus/van for treatment. The vehicle went over the side of a mountain and a can of gasoline exploded, according to Ish's cousin, Tollie Perry, who was in the camp with him but not on the bus. Those who were on the bus but who were only hurt in the accident included H.C. Sasser [son of Thomas E. Sasser & Bertha (Sasser) Cox, and grandson of John-Henry &Georgianne(Burnett) Sasser]. A message addressed to Ish's mother, Bam Cobb, arrived at the Tedders post office. Her cousin, Barbara (Corey) Tedders [daughter of John &Annie(Jarvis)Corey] --the postmistress, who was used to having people visit her and mostly too busy at home to go to the neighbors' houses-- realized that this contained important news and headed up the narrow path that paralleled the little creek, in some places on the bluff above it, to Bam's house. When Bam saw her cousin coming, she immediately had a premonition of what she was going to find out and started screaming, "Ish is dead!" Ish's grave at the Cobb Cemetery is easily identified today by the shed that has been build over it. | |
