    • Can anyone identify the following person?

      Patricia Hale Liford
      12-16-1952
      06-27-1982
      on a tombstone, located at
      Hale Cemetery, Laurel Co, KY,
      says "in memory of;
      drowned in a boating accident"
    Excerpts/paraphrases
of the response to Elaine's inquiry:
    • . . .Patty was involved in at boating accident
on Laurel Lake. She fell overboard and her
body was never recovered. She has been
missing since 1976, declared dead in 1982.
She left two children; Regina Beth "Gina"
Liford and Dennis Liford. The circumstances
of her death are considered somewhat of a
mystery to her family. The full details of
the accident have never been disclosed by
the other people on the boat, in fact the
investigation of the whole matter were hushed up.
      If anyone has any information
on her death, it would be a comfort
      to her children and siblings
      . . .Patty's children were raised by their father. . .
and by Patty's sister Joyce "Joy" Hale Hill. . .
but primarily by their cousin Hayden Watkins
      ---and his wife Regina,
for whom Regina "Gina" was named. . .

      ............. Thanks for asking,
      THERESA (SASSER) WILSON.

    Updates: 02 Jul 2004

Let me offer some accurate dates and information:
  • Pat was not missing in 1976
(that would make it hard for her to have Gina in 1979),
she has been missing since June 27, 1982,
and has never been declared legally deceased.

  • The children were primarily raised by me, their father,
with much appreciated help from the family; Gina desired to
move into the home with Hayden and Regina when she was 14.
Todd always lived with me until he graduated high school.
