My Father was Walter Herbert Cobbs born in 1882 in Pittsylvania County VA and my Grandfather William Walton Cobbs born in Halifax County about 1838 and his Father John James Cobbs born in Halifax County about 1799 and his Father Ambrose Cobbs the Fifth born in Cobbs, Va about1755, and so on back to Ambrose Cobbs the 1st born in Taunton Somerset at Cobbs Hall in 1688 and come to Jamestown Virginia about 1608-09.

I have more info on Sam & Louas Philpot Cobb's son Joe married to Vicky. I have a picture of a head stone Joseph C Cobb 1888-1936 & Victoria Cobb 1890-1935. According to the 1930 census they lived in Greene county,Wright township in Indiana. Their Childrens ages in 1930 were Nancy 22, Docid 19, Edith 17, Joseph 15, Gertrude 13, Helen 7, Ruby 6,& Marie 4. Joe Was My Grandfather. Joe was a strip mining engineer. Edith Married George Moses in 1928 they have a daughter Betty who was 1 in 1930.

My Grandmother was Euphemia Mills. My grandfather was Jim Leonard Carnes Beside their daughter Rosa they had two other children A son named Arthur 1903-1949 and another daughter named Bessie May Carnes 1905 -1979. Bessie married Jeff Carnes Son of Pal Carnes an Lydia Ferguson. I am looking up our Genealogy and I never see Bessie or Arthur mentioned as children of Jim Leonard and Euphemia only Rosie. I hope to see them listed in the future. My Uncle Arthur died in the 40's and my Mother Bessie came to live in Michigan in the 40's maybe that is why they aren't listed.

Your website mentioned...."Leela's 2nd husband was FNU Chesnut, with whom she had Arthur and John Chesnut." I have been putting long hours in trying to figure the Arthur Cleveland Chesnut mystery and I feel confident it has been solved. Arthur was b. 8/8/1987 and d. 6/16/1979. His obit mentioned his biological parents as being "Dick and Iley Wilholt Chesnut". I have since found out that "Dick" is Edmund Benjamin "Dick" Chesnut (b. 3/14/1870 - d. 11/16/1933)and is the son of Benjamin "Ben" Chesnut, Jr. (b. 1836) and America Jane Moore. Arthur was adopted by Cleveland A. Chesnut (Arthur's Uncle) and Cassie Black. Ggrandson of James Daniel Alday & Louisa Faircloth. grandson of John Wesley Alday & Sarah "Susie" Grantham and son of Wheeler R. Alday. I grew up in the Salem Baptist Church, Seminole Co., GA. I can tell you this. The Cemetery was nor destroyed and Matthew Faircloth and Clarisa Sasser Faircloth rest there as do my parents and eldest brther + two sisters and many relatives there. Please see pg 277 of "OF ONE DOZEN SASSERS" by Cuz Claudia Chitwood Weller., Orlando, Fl. The frst Salem Baptist Church was moved from Rock Pond area to Desser Community where the new one is today. My brother Joseph bought the origional Church for his families home in Desser. It burned down (set fire by an irate son of his) in abt 1995. I'm not sure but I think the origional Salem Church Cemetery only had two or three graves in it and those were moved to either Spring Creek Church Ceme. or Desser Salem Church Ceme.
