WEEK THREE

THE IMAGE SLICER

Tutorial One - This week we studied IMAGE SLICING! This means we take a very large image and cut it up into smaller pieces. The Image Slicer allows for the cutting up of an image into smaller pieces to assist with the faster loading of an image on the web. I found this to be a very difficult lesson, and of COURSE, it took ME twice as long to complete it, as I would make an error, and not catch it until it was uploaded and I had to start all over again! What a way to learn!
Here is my first Sliced Image! IMAGE SLICER

Tutorial Two - This is an lesson in slicing up an image using both the GIF for the letters and the JPG format for the image part that contains many colors. The GIF format is better for images with few colors, and the JPG format is preferred for many colors.

Tutorial Three - Slicer Tool and Anmiation. This lessons shows how parts of an image are saved as JPGS as they have more colors and are photographs, the Animation part is saved as a GIF. This was fun, except I made an error and had to do it TWICE! Oh well, my slices got a little BIGGER as I had to repeat the lesson, but I do have the idea! A big PLUS for ME! See my scary door knocker KNOCK KNOCK!
I had just a little time left over to try to do my puppies,
not a great job, but I am proud of mysel for really understanding
this technique, see Nancy and Frankie at the same page! NANCY AND FRANKIE

Tutorial Four - Using Slices as Links to Other Pages! The link slices are saved as GIFs and the solid blocks are saved as JPGs. This was quite coool! I liked this exercise, even if I had to do this lesson TWICE also! I think this can technique could be used in place of image maps! I like it better than image maps, seems easier. Again, my slices on this second try are bigger than they should be, but I do understand!! I liked this image soooo much that I also put in on my index page as well as in week three of this lesson.
