The Mississauga Chess Club For Kids

• When: Thursdays at 6:45pm to 7:45pm.
• What: Kids play pickup games until most of the kids arrive. Then a short lesson or quiz is given. Then kids play a club rated tournament game.
• Membership fee: $35 per year for first child. $10 for each child after.

Chess For Kids 2008.
Mississauga Chess Club For Kids is a success! It will run throughout the year. It is every Thursdays 6:45-8:00 pm.
Kids play against other kids.

Chess For Kids 2007.
Chess for kids - lessons and games has ended for the 2007 summer session. It was enthusiastically attended.
So, we decided to have a Mississauga Chess Club for Kids where the kids play matches against each other. There are no lessons just games. Every Thursday 6:30pm-7:30pm. Thanks to all the kids.

The kids played 2 rounds of a club rated tournament.
More rounds will be played next week on Aug 2nd. I will try to get a crosstable of results.
At the end of this tournament the kids will have a rating!

Chess for kids (and for Beginners) ... starts Thursday July 5, 2007 6:30pm-7:30pm.
This year the parking permit is $10 for the summer or $1/hour for the meter.

Important Change! Chess for Kids begins July 6, 2006 and goes until the end of August, but the time has changed to 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Thursday (instead of 6-7pm)
Important Change! Chess for Kids on July 20, 2006 is cancelled because the coaches will be playing at the Canadian Open Chess Tournament.
It costs $1 per session per kid.
This class is still informal and does not require registration. Bring the child to the club at 6pm on Thursdays.
There is one main lecture for kids who know how to play (beginners - under 1200 CFC rating).
Kids over 1200 rating are welcome to play against our members.
Kids who do not know the moves or just learnt the moves are given separate instruction.
The kids have varied in age from 7 to 13.

Chess For Kids 2005.
Sorry, we forgot to bring a camera to take pictures of the participants. We generally had between 10 and 20 kids ranging in age from about 8 to 13. Kids who never played before are given separate tutoring.

Chess For Kids 2004.
The Mississauga Chess Club has successfully completed its popular "Chess For Youth" program for 2004. During the summer months, members of the club taught children how to play chess. Participation varied from a dozen to over twenty children varying in age from 5 to 14. We enjoyed the experience and so did the kids.
