Lakshman's Line

In fact this line is regarded as the line of control or where the activities of a housewife end. If any woman, whether the daughter or the daughter-in-law stays in her limits, there are very lean chances of troubles on a family, but if she crosses her limits then there may not be any end of troubles. This line always protects the woman as well as family. In Hindi Language it is called "Lakshman Rekhaa". Whoever women stay inside their Lakshman Rekhaa they are Satee women and they may attain certain powers to fight with odds in their lives. This is proved in this incident that Raavan couldn't have even touched Seetaa while She was inside the line. That is why he asked Her to come out of the line.

That is why Lakshman drew the line that "Hey Seetaa, please stay inside your limits till the men of he house come back to take care of you. If you will cross it you may be in trouble." Seetaa did think twice to cross that line before She gave alms to Raavan. In fact he said - "I don't take the alms from inside the line." Why? Because he wanted to bring Seetaa outside the line so that he cam abduct Her, harm Her. Without this he could not do anything. If he crossed that line he would have burned.
