When in Rome...

Asia deals with atypical pneumonia
So we were going for a long weekend to Japan for a couple of runs on Kyushu with the Free China Hash.
Although I normally don't tend to wear the face mask except when visiting hospitals, I thought if there is one place where you do where one, it's the plane with its stale, recycled bacteria riddled air. So off we go, buy facemasks and the experiment commences. The plane is practically empty so nobody is really breathing on us anyway, but alright.

Tips for wearing a mask effectively: do not touch the mask - do not touch your face - wash your hands before touching your face - when removing the mask, dispose of mask in plastic bag without touching the mask.
Ever tried to not touch your face for a while? impossible! And even if you do, how are you going to enjoy the complementary snacks and beverages on the plane without removing or touching the mask, etc. etc. Tried it, tried that, never mind.

The trip was bizarre anyway. As said, the plane was empty, as well as the airports on either side. There was a Japanese television crew awaiting our plane arriving from Hong Kong and some of us were interviewed about the disease.  On the way back we had to fill out forms with our details and submit before entering Hong Kong. At immigration we were handed brochures about the disease. Curious bystanders shrieked back from us upon hearing we were from Hong Kong.

I hope they are going to let me in at Kathmandu airport...
