Christmas 2001
Christmas 2001 was my very first Christmas. I did not know what was going on since I was only 3 months old. I spent christmas with my Mom and Dad and then we went and visited my Granny Bill which is my daddy's mother and then went went and spent the night with my Nana and Pop which is my mother's parents. For my first Christmas I got a Sing Me To Sleep Pooh, clothes, money and some stuffed animals from all my family.
Hernia Operation
On May 31, 2002 Curtis had a medium size knot to pop out at the lower part of his stomach. I took him to the Emergency Room and we were told that he had a hernia and that he needed to see a Surgeon. The ER doctor told us to watch him real close and if he started running a fever or throwing up to bring him back to the hospital and they would have to do emergency surgery.
On Monday June 2, 2002, We took Curtis to his Doctor and she confirmed that he did have a hernia and that he did need to have hernia surgery.
On Wednesday June 6, 2002, we took Curtis to see the surgeon. The surgeon said that it would be a simple surgery and that it would only take 30-45 minutes. Surgery was set up for the next day.
Surgery Day: Thursday June 6, 2002. We got to the hospital and got Curtis admitted for his same day surgery. The doctor came in and told us that they would not start an IV on him until they got him into surgery and he was put to sleep. The doctor said that he had kids of his own and he did not believe in hurting a child so he always done the IV's after the child was asleep. We got Curtis in his little hospital gown and waited for them to come and get him. They finally came in and took us to the same day surgery recovery room to wait. The nurses told us that the worst part was going to be when they came and took Curtis from me because he would cry because of being took from me. The nurses told us that if we would not cry when they came and got him that they would not cry. I (MOM) told them yeah right. Well the time finally came....the nurse came and got Curtis. When the nurse took him from me he just looked back over her shoulder at us like hey I am going somewhere. After a little while the nurse came out and said that he never cried when he got out of our site and when they put the mask on him to put him to sleep he never even cried. We were then sent to a waiting room. After about 30 minutes the doctor came out and told us that the surgery went well and as soon as Curtis started waking up that a nurse would come get us. About 20 minutes later a nurse came and got me (Mom) and said he was waking up. When I got in the recovery room where Curtis was at a nurse was sitting in a rocking chair rocking him. They told us that nurse had took him right after the surgery and went and set down and rocked him until he woke up. They said that Curtis never cried the first time. We went back to Curtis' room and stated there for about 30 minutes and then the nurse came and took out his IV and then she started getting all his papers ready so we could go home. About 2 hours after his surgery Curtis was crawling all over us and playing like nothing had ever happened. He never fussed or even acted like he was in any pain.
