Making Snow Globes

By now you should have an idea of the size of PSP and all of the things that are available to you.  If you aren't sure of anything in PSP and you haven't already, take a look at this tutorial for an overview of everything that is available in the programme.

I wrote this tutorial at the request of one of the people who emailed me from my personal site - thank you Linda!  It shows you how to make a snowglobe using tubes.  I'm not going to animate mine 'cos I'm not very good at animations, but I'll include some "snow" in the zip file so you can have a go at animating it if you'd like to  :o)

You should end up with something that looks similar to this:

You will need:

A copy of PaintShop Pro - you can download a 30 day trial version from here

This zip file - I've downloaded these tubes from various sites... if one of these tubes are yours and you'd like me to give you credit or take it out of the zip file, just let me know!  :o)

Fire up PSP and wait for it to chug and whir into action

Now open up a new image, using the following settings:

Width:  500
Height:  500
Resolution:  72.000
Background Colour:  Transparent
Image Type:  16.7 Million Colours

Now add a single, solid colour to the background

Now would be a good time to save your snowglobe... I know it doesn't look like much right now, but it's better to save every few steps in case something happens and you loose all your work - it's better to only loose a few steps than to have to start from the beginning all over again!  :o)

Open up your dolphin tube (or whichever tube you want to be in the middle of your snowglobe) and copy it (Ctrl + C)

Now go back to your background and paste the dolphin tube as a new layer (Ctrl + L)

Now open up your snow globe base tube, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste it as a new layer (Ctrl + L) on the background image

Open up your globe tube, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste it as a new layer (Ctrl + L) on the background image

I know it looks a bit of a mess right now, but bear with me!!  :o)

Save your work again now - make sure you save it as a .psp file
