Stuff You Need To Know

Now we're going to start organising PSP and planning for the future!  I know it's a pain to do it now, but believe me, it'll save a huge amount of frustration later on!!  :o)

Like I said on my index page of these tutorials, I'm assuming you have a working knowledge of Windows, therefore I'm going to assume that you know where to find Windows Explorer and how to use it.

So, with that assumption, bring up Windows Explorer and navigate to the root of your hard drive (or if you are lucky enough to have more than one hard drive, use the one with the most space available on it).  I've blocked out the names of my folders on my root directory on the screenshot for my own safety and privacy  :o)

Now you need to create a new folder on the root of that drive - I've called mine "PSP Tubes"

This is where you need to put the tubes that you download and save - you can create various other folders within this folder to categorise all your various tubes.

Now you need to do the same again and create a folder for "PSP Plug-Ins" and "PSP Selections".  If you'd like to, you can also create folders for "PSP Patterns", "PSP Textures", "PSP Gradients", "PSP Brushes", "PSP Frames" and "PSP Shapes".

If you've still got PSP open, you need to close it down and open it up again.  I know it's a pain, but this won't work otherwise  :o)

Now go to the "File" menu, down to "Preferences" and across to "File Locations"

You'll get a dialogue box like this pop up:

In that top box, you need to change the path to show the folder you've just set up for your tubes, so click on the "browse" button

You'll get another box pop up over the top of it showing where the path is currently pointing to

In this box, you need to navigate to the tubes folder on your root directory and hit OK.  You'll notice that the path has now changed - that's cool.  Now you just need to save any tubes that you download into the tubes folder you set up and your tubes will be available to you in PSP!  :o)

Do the same for the other folders you've just set up and it will stop PSP from slowing down too much as you download more and more extras to use in PSP.
