Chapter 2 The elevator doors opened and he looked around but he didn’t see her. Enthralled in his search, he hadn’t realized that he had walked into a hotel lobby filled with WWF fans. He was instantly surrounded. Graciously, he stopped and signed a few autographs before excusing himself and rushing back to his room. He walked in to find his roommate for the night sitting on the bed, head in hands. "What’s wrong, Jay?", he asked his friend. "I blew it, Jeff.", Jay answered still covering his face. "Blew what?", Jeff asked setting his guitar down to lean against the wall before taking a seat on the opposite bed. "My girlfriend, Max. She showed up out of no where and caught me with that girl from the show earlier.", Jay said looking up at his friend with sorrow, a tear stained face. "That’s harsh. Sorry, bro.", Jeff returned. "Harsh doesn’t even touch it.", Jay mumbled. "Well, I hate to say it, but that’s what happens when you cheat.", Jeff stated. Jay looked at him, "Like you’d never cheat." "I wouldn’t. Not if I really cared about her.", Jeff explained. "That’s easier said than done.", Jay started, "It’s not that I don’t love her. It’s just….I don’t know what I was thinking." Jeff felt sorry for Jay, but he didn’t want to spend the rest of the night sitting in that room listening to Jay moan and groan about what he’d done. He had no one to blame but himself. Jeff knew what it was like to be cheated on. He had been with his girlfriend for a year and though he was on the road most of the time, he never once slipped. Never once did he cheat on her which made it even more devastating when she did it to him. He began to remember that day - the day he caught her. How he had come home early from a trip and walked in on them - in his own bed. Attempting to push the thoughts out of his head, he told Jay he’d be back later and left the room. He wasn’t sure where he was going, but he had to get out of there. Jeff made his way down a back staircase and out a back door to avoid the fans that were still gathered in the lobby. He made his way down a path that lead to the riverbank. It was there that he saw her, sitting alone on the bank, staring up at the stars - the girl from the rooftop. "Funny how we keep running into each other in these secluded spots.", Jeff said startling Max. She turned to look up at him and smiled, "Yeah." "Mind if I sit down?", he asked. She shook her head and then returned her gaze to the stars. The two of them sat there silently staring at the sky . Last Chapter ..*.. Next Chapter ..*.. Chapter Index ..*.. Home |
