PARQUET APPLICATION

PLANNING THE LAYOUT

To find room center measure the four walls to determine center point of each wall. Snap chalk line on floor from center points of opposite walls Check, using the 3,4,5, method which gives a perfect 90° (fig. 1), to determine if intersection of lines forms a perfect right angle. If not, adjust shorter line (at one end only) to get correct angle. This gives adjusted center starting position for equal width borders opposite each other.

APPLYING ADHESIVE

(a) Use only Heritage Flooring adhesive with Heritage parquet. Regardless of whether it is an emulsion or mastic type, follow instructions on adhesive label.

(b) Adhesive temperature should be at least 210C (700F) at point of application. Do not let emulsion type freeze.

(c) Use proper trowel to obtain proper spread rate as shown on can.

LAYING THE TILE

Place first tile at the center 90° angle, with sides lined up with both chalk lines. Press to ensure adhesion. Continue laying tiles in adhesive along the chalk lines (fig.3),then fill in between. Do not slide tiles into place; be certain they are flush to lines and that tongue and groove are properly engaged in both directions.

Note: If using a border tile of different shade, the borders must be at least one half a tile width for best appearance. Measure from center line to wall and chalk line 6" towards wall. Repeat process in other direction (fig.2).

Trim tiles to fit around vertical objects and walls, leaving 1/2 clearance. When complete, install moldings to cover perimeter expansion space.
