This is a classic piece. The lid is purpleheart with a swath of lacewood with soft white maple accent strips. The box is made from lacewood with contrasting purpleheart dowels on the corners for strength and color. The dimensions of this piece are approximately 8" long, 5 1/2" wide and 3" high, which make it the perfect size for keepsakes, trinkets, and personal treasures.

The bottom is made from five pieces of highly figured black walnut wedges that are alternated and glued together. That piece is then dadoed into the interior sides of the box, allowing it to "float" and not bind with temperature and humidity changes. Four coats of clear Danish oil finish make for optimum contrast between the brushed solid brass hinges and the deep richness of the lid and box. This box is deceptively heavy, and is definitely an heirloom piece.
