Kevin got his first guitar for Christmas at the age of 12.
At age 16 he went on his first
real road trip as a musician as the bass player for a church-related singing group where he performed several shows
in Southern California before returning to Utah. He practiced with friends throughout junior high and high
school, but it wasn’t until high school that he started to make money performing. During his high school years, he was exposed
to blues and blues-based rock and progressive rock, and he gained experience playing bass guitar for the high school choir,
and the occasional bar mitzvah gig. At age 18, the rock band he was in was invited to be on the roster of the
local live rock club ‘The Ice House’, a 2000-seat concert hall/booking
agency which had 5 local bands that it rotated between their national acts which included among others, Billy Joel, Styx, The Rasberry’s,
Bachman-Turner Overdrive, The James Gang and Tommy Bolin (Deep Purple). At that time the Osmond's were still at the peak of
their popularity, and the brothers “crashed” his bands Ice House shows from time to time, and usually played a set
or two. He spent the year following high school on the road with a talented 4-piece rock band, then spent a short time as a personal
roadie for The Osmond's. At age 20, his band found itself sharing the
stage with The Belamy Brothers, and the next year was invited to join a rock band out of Utah called Xanadu. He spent the following
two-plus years touring the U.S. and Canada with them, and spent the remainder of the 80’s in a succession of rock bands,
doing lots of studio recording, concerts and club dates, and even built up his own sound and lighting rental company which operated
successfully for 6 years. In the early '90's, he spent three years as House Sound Engineer at The Westerner Club
in SLC, UT. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from Weber State University, Ogden, UT.
