Egypt

So after an eventful crossing of the Red Sea from Aqaba in Jordan to Egypt, (we were on the ferry for 16 hrs), and then we had to clear Egyptian Customs.

We were told that this process can take 3 hours and with amazement we were rushed through in under 30 minutes, we later found out that palms had been greased.

So after our packs being strapped to the roof racks and all of us clear of the customs, we jumped into Taxis for the 1 hour journey to Dahab.

Many stories have been told about Dahab, most of which fall into urban myths, included amongst these are the tales of Specialist herbs, lets just say that the place is no longer the herb capitol of Egypt.

So with 4 days R&R ahead of us we settled into our Rooms at the Seven Heaven Hotel, the reception we were given was marvelous. They have a professional dive shop on site and the Dive Instructors and Leaders were the consummate professionals.

So with Dahab Behind us we moved onto Luxor, the ancient heart of the Egyptian Empire. Once we had sorted out our rooms and had a relax around town for the rest of the day, it was time to catch the sound and light show in the Temple of Karnak

To beat both the Heat and the dreaded tourists from the Cruise boats we headed off to see the Valley of the Kings. Some of the Groups were nervous about the Mode of Transport..

but some of the others took the challenge in their stride

So we head off and catch some unique sights along the way ( you dont get this close on an air conditioned Coach)

So to dispel rumors that the Authors don't exist here we are.. even if my impression of the God Father is pretty lame

So we dismounted and started to discover the Tombs of the Pharoahs

After that we trekked with our donkeys Over the Hills to the Valley of the Artisans

The Detail of the Artisans tombs just took our breath away..
