Priestly A. LeCroy was born about 1826 probably in Anderson Co., SC. He died after 1917 (The photo at left was taken in 1917.). He is known to have married, and/or fathered children by, several women including Elizabeth Peek, Elizabeth Kelley, Catherine Thrasher, Amanda Thrasher (sister of Catherine), and an unnamed Indian woman. Priestly may have had more than 20 children by these women.

Priestly was the son of Thomas Reuben LeCroy who was listed in the 1830 US Census in Anderson Co., SC (p. 173). Priestly is known to have had a brother named Jesse M. LeCroy.
