Name: Marianne (MareZX@aol.com)

Age: Old enough to drink, but too young for mink ;-)

Family: Parents, one sister

Residence: New York City. An "outer borough"

Occupation: Corporate loan department of a commercial bank. Yes, we lend -- rather large sums -- to companies. I'm not describing it any further because if you're not in banking, you'll have no IDEA what the hell I do, even if I explain it. ::grin:: Come to think of it, you might feel that way even if you're in commercial banking...

Education: BS in Marketing from St. John's University, New York. Yeah, that Marketing degree is why I'm in banking. ::grin::

Pets: Four purebred, pedigreed, papered Burmese cats. By CFA-registered names: Burpur Tao, Burpur Ariel, Burpur Alexander the Great, and Bijoux Tamsin. AKA Tao, Ari, Alex, and Tami. And though Alex's registered name is Alexander the Great, people who know me know who he was really named after ;-)

Apparently, as soon as Tao sees someone coming towards him with a camera, he has to approach and head-butt the photographer, so this is the best picture Mare has of him right now.

Hobbies: Writing, reading, movies.... um... other stuff ::grin::

First fanfic written: If you wanna be technical, it was a MASH screenplay titled "Checks & Imbalances" written in 1982, during high school, co-authored with my sister and 2 friends. There were ideas for about 6 others, one of which turned into another almost-finished screenplay. Another one my sister took and ran with in prose form, but never finished.

That petered out after about 2 years, and I didn't go near fanfic again till March 1996. By that time I'd started reading XF fanfic (and found out that there was an actual name for those high school scribblings!), and I started noodling around with an XF idea; a Mulder/Other Female Character piece with a heavy dose of Krycek in it. Then Apocrypha aired.

The unnecessarily cruel and unsatisfying end of that ep made me feel I just had to fix it. Suddenly my Mulder-centric story morphed into a very Krycek-centric thing, with the M/OFC element changing to K/OFC -- and the OFC changed a lot in the process, too. The first version I'd only thought about; the newer version I actually started writing, and it became my first WIP, Truth & Consequences.

That was the first fic I started writing. The first one I published came 2 years later, with Where Do I Go From Here? I was reading a lot of Patient X/Red & the Black fic around that time, and found most Krycek-fic authors concentrating on 2 seconds of those eps. I thought some of the other 88 minutes of those 2 eps deserved some exploring, too.

By the time that was published, both of my WIPs were started. Now I try to split time between the WIP novels and shorter pieces (with real life butting in far too often).

What inspired me to start writing: I really don't know. I guess I've always had stories to tell. When I was a kid it came in the form of play, with Barbies or paper doll cutouts my sister & I drew ourselves. As I grew up, the stories started to move to paper -- more control over the characters that way, & I could ignore plot directions other people wanted to go in ::grin::

I started creating original characters at an early age, and I still have an active non-fanfic project, the origins of which date back to something I started writing at age 13. Sure, very little remains recognizable from that original incarnation, but I can still trace the roots back. I guess the ideas and the character grew up as I did. And, at 189 pages, it remains the longest thing I've ever written. (At least until WG12 is done -- with Chapter 12, WG will pass it in length.) Too bad that old project needs a total rewrite. ::grin::

Favorite XF pairing: Either Scully/Krycek or Scully/Doggett... Mare's muse felt the need to hug Doggett after a lot of the season 8 episodes, and now she wants him to be happy... And we *all* know Scully can do better than Mulder -- Doggett would be the perfect fit ;-)

Other pairings written: Besides adding Scully/Doggett to the list...

Okay, I admit it. Mare, the famous Noromo, wrote an MSR. But it was comedy! And there was only one!

...And only one Mulder/Krycek by Mare, the non-slasher. ::grin:: But that was comedy too!

Among the published stuff, I did write a Krycek/Marita, though the relationship wasn't a major focus of the fic. And T&C is a Krycek/OFC.

That's the published stuff. There's a lot of others that are partially-written or just at the idea stage. There's the Mulder-centric novella that includes a Mulder/OFC element. (It's part of the detritus of the original story/series that T&C morphed out of.) There's another Krycek/Marita in the pipeline, possibly two. I'm still deciding if I want to deal with Two Fathers/One Son, Requiem, or both. There's a Mulder/Scully friendshippy piece that I have a sneaking suspicion shippers will like (even thought it's not MSR). And I'm currently (and have been for a while) toying with both a threesome idea and an orgyfic.

Other fandoms written: None, except the aforementioned MASH fic. The only other shows I might've been inspired to write for (St. Elsewhere and The Practice) are already too well-written and I couldn't possibly live up to that.

Opinions on Krycek & his motivations: Well.... I think his primary motivation is just to survive. If that means saving the world along the way (which I think he might be trying to do), so be it. Kinda makes sense anyway, for a guy bent on survival ;-)

It's pretty hard to define Krycek's motivations from the highly fragmented portrait CC's shown us. I guess you could also say he wants to rule whatever world order comes along after the alien apocalypse, but given the choice between ruling (and maybe dying) and survival, I still think he'd pick survival.

Comments on NL & his other roles: Hmm... I really can't say what lured me into the Cult of Nickdom, but even at the first airing of Sleepless, I must've seen something, because right after that I started seeking out his other work.

There's something that can be said for just about every role he's had, no matter how awful the project. Yes, even Burning Zone (Tuxedo'd, SleepWithMeOrDie!Nick) and XTro 2 (BuffSweatyTankTop!Nick) We already know he's a good actor -- Krycek's appearance is guaranteed to energize any XF ep and jack up the dramatic tension. Now I just hope he continues to get good roles in higher-profile projects.

One more note: I've seen him in person twice. He's utterly, absolutely beautiful in person, and he's a real sweetie to boot :-)
