Aware is an organization dedicated to women's self-defense, as such it courses and its web page are highly recommended. Aware Courses

Inclusion of a club in this list in no way conveys that club's endorsement of this page, or this page's endorsement of that club.

It is advisable to contact most clubs before going along. This is a matter of courtesy to the club. Some clubs will have regular beginner courses as it can cause too much disruption to have new people starting constantly. It is a good idea to watch a club before joining to see what its like.

You should wear loose clothes that allow movement and that you don’t mind getting damaged. An aerobics top under your clothes will be useful in case your clothes get ripped or pulled up during a throw! You should also remove all jewelry
