A ROCK LAMP
Gene used thinly-sliced pieces from onyx, jade,
rodeacrosite, lapis, and other gemstones to make his rocklamp.
Each piece had was polished before it was set in the shade.
The black opal came from a southern area in Australia called Coober Petty.
Australians no long allow raw black opals to leave their country except
in the form of jewelry, so the one you see is very rare.
