and it can be explained pretty easily, if not a little long.
To start the chronological order of the games are Orcarina of Time,
Majora's Mask, Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Legend of Zelda, and
Adventure of Link. Link starts off in Oot as about 10 years old, and ends
the game at 10 years old. Link is about 10 to 11 years old in Majora's Mask.
The next game in Link to the Past which takes place about 3 to 400 years
after Oot, but here's the kicker, Termina is an alternate dimension.
Although only 4 days have passed according to Termina time (Dawn of a New Day
is the 4th), time may pass differently in Hyrule than in Termina, every one
day in Termina could possibly equal 75 years Hyrule time. With the
tremendous amount of time passed when he returns home to Hyrule, Link may have
passed out from the shock and was then recovered by
a relative claiming to be his uncle ( remember Link's name was stamped on his
hand by the banker in Termina, so the man claiming to be the uncle would know
his name). After defeating Ganon again Link sets out to explore the future
version of a world he once knew and ends up on Koholihnt Island. Again this
is a mystic land and time might pass differently here also. With the
extended time passed after leaving the island, Link returns to Hyrule to
discover Ganon's returned along with a Hyrule left in ruins. People in third
time don't know of a triforce of courage because so Link has always had it
and so much time has passed it has been forgotten. Link defeats Ganon again
and saves Zelda again. Link then goes on his final quest to awaken a
sleeping Zelda.
