MADANGAD

This is a difficult mountain to climb. It can be recognised by the huge hole on its western top. The top is above this hole. Some of the steps leading to the top have been blown off. A steep rock face of 20 meters has to be climbed to enter the fort. One must be experienced and careful when climbing this mountain.

Getting here:-

Reach IGATPURI Railway station.
Catch a bus to BHAVLI. Climb to the left to KULANGWADI (6 Kms) proceed on a cart track almost to AMBEWADI. Turn south to climb to the col between ALANG and MADANGAD.
A very narrow and exposed track leads back to the base of the massif. A broad rocky staircase leads to the bottom of the rock climbing wall. There is a hole carved out in the rock at the top of the climb which is good for fixing a rope. Further ahead steps lead to a broad plateau with a huge cave and water.
The easiest way to descent down is by rappelling down.
