This range runs to the north of the NASIK-MANMAD railway. It has many beautiful forts some remote and difficult to reach. Major starting points are NASIK, VANI- NANDURI,  LASALGAON,  CHANDWAD and MANMAD. The  Maratha and the Mughal  forces captured various forts and fought many battles on the mountain passes like Kanchana  Khind,  Dindori  and Ahivant in  particular witnessed many battles.
