I
am a self taught artist, from a rural area south of
Ottawa Ontario, Canada. I first began painting, with
acrylics, after finishing high school in 1995.
Frustrated with the fast drying time of acrylics, I
decided to try oils – and I never went back. The
majority of my work is done in oil, however I also do
some sketching in graphite, and occasionally I work with
pastels, coloured pencils, and watercolour.
Attending college from 1996 – 1999,
painting remained somewhat in the shadows while I earned
my diploma in Interior Design. But either the shadows
receded, or painting crept stealthily forwards; either
way I came to realize that, being an interior designer
was not my lot - I had to paint.
Since then I have participated in local art shows, and
displayed my work at a number of local venues. My work
is also in private collections in Canada, Germany, and
Switzerland.
Nature is my biggest inspiration,
and my greatest love; therefore landscapes and nature
details form the largest part of my work. I also enjoy
the challenge of painting still life, and florals, and
most recently I have undertaken portraiture. |
