Samurai was a member of a litter of three Champion males. The fourth pup was a bitch who was owned by the Prouts, bred and never finished.  Sired by Windy out of Acclaim -- this was the first time that I linebred.

There were 4 pups. I showed Sakiasan and finished him myself. He won just about every time that he was shown -- had a magnificent headpiece, lovely body and beautiful rear.  He was too much dog for me -- not as elegant as I like; a smoother Fashion Plate.  The other brother, Sendai, was shown by Larry Downey.  He finished with three 4 point majors and was very pretty headed, not as nice in the rear or shoulders and smallish; he was a small Impressario with a beautiful head.

Samurai was shown by Joe Gregory, gave him the best dog.  Sam started out on the Florida circuit and won all the shows on that circuit.  There was only one major so he came home with 14 points.  Joe diddled around with him and finally, after being threatened by Larry Downey, finished him in October of 1956.  Larry had actually entered the dog in a show the first week in November just in case Joe stayed silly.

Sam is the sire of Ch. Forest Gate's Spark of Marjack who is the sire of Fan-Art's Little Star who is the dam of Ch. Brumble Carolina Star.  That is Sam's only claim to fame as he was too elegant for his time and everyone liked Sonny, so no one bred to him.  That was his one time shot.  Pretty good shot, I'd say.

These guys finishing that year made me Kennel Breeding the Most Champions and Breeder of the Year for ABC awards.

The bitch, Sayonara, should have finished, but Joe wanted the Prouts to breed her to his Signature dog. They did, and got nothing. Then, they bred her to Major Spark and got two champions.  By that time, she was too old to show and finish.  Too bad it would have made Acclaim a DOM.  Such is life.  Larry Downey told us "Next time I want the good dog,"  meaning Sam.  He said he would have made him a Specials dog.  Probably would have too.  Oh well.

Fate intervened. Misty was only bred to Lookout -- then he had his illness and she died of an anurism.  Daddy didn't think much of showing dogs, too expensive, had to put me through college and that was the end of Marjack.  Except that I am just like the Energizer bunny , I just keep going and going and going...
