Canon EOS 650

Against my better judgment, I purchased a Canon EOS 650 back when they first came out.  I had always considered myself a purist and never saw myself buying an auto-everything camera, but when the salesman showed me all the features (astonishing for their time) and how easy it was to over-ride them and even shoot the camera completely manually I put back the Basic Nikon camera that I had planned on buying and took the plunge into the modern age of photography.  I don't regret it at all.  Yes, there are still purists that insist on only using all manual cameras, but I have found that the the auto features never get in the way of how I want to shoot and are often a great help.  The camera is getting pretty old at this point and can hardly keep up with the new ones, but it has been the best camera I have ever owned.

I shoot primarily with the 50mm f1.8 lens that came with the camera, not agreeing with Lord Adams that normal lenses should be avoided.  At one point I had a number of assorted fixed length lenses, but when I realized that I was never using them I sold them off and purchased a Tamron 28-300mm super zoom which has so far performed quite well.
