I attended the University of New England from 1999 and graduated in 2003. While at UNE I lived at Robb College.
The University of New England was founded in 1938 as a campus of the University of Sydney. It became fully independent in 1954.
In 1989 this campus amalgamated with the Armidale College of Advanced Education, the Northern Rivers College of Advanced Education in Lismore, and Coffs Harbour. Orange Agricultural College joined in the next year.
In 1993 the Lismore and Coffs Harbour campuses became the Southern Cross University. The Orange campus amalgamated with the University of Sydney.
The University of New England (UNE) is located on several sites in Armidale. The main campus is 5 km North-West of the city center.
Part of this campus includes the original property presented by the late Mr. T. R. Forester to the University of Sydney. This property comprised the old homestead, 'Booloominbah', now used for University administration, together with several buildings and 74 hectares of land. The university now comprises of 260 hectares.
The University also possess a numper of rural propreties in close proximity to Armidale. The area of these properties add up to 4839 hectares.
Armidale has a population of 25 000 people. It is situated on the New England Tablelands, NSW. The city is 1 000 metres above sea level, 510 km from Sydey and 460 km from Brisbane. The city also has two cathedrals. One Catholic, and the other Anglican.

UNE is a member of the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering (AINSE). This year (2001) I hade the opportunity to represent UNE at the AINSE Winter School.
