MU SKI
& SNOWBOARD CLUB
What is ski & snowblard club? |
The team consists of ~40 members who compete in Men's & Women's
Alpine, and Snowboard races (Slalom & Griant Slalom). We are
a member of the Chicago Division of the Midwest Collegiate Snowsport
Association (MCSA) as well as the United States Collegiate Snowsport
Association (USCSA). Racing is a mandatory element for those signing
up, however as always the emphasis is on having FUN! Some skiing
or boarding experience is required to join the club, but you needn't
have raced before as hands-on training and team workships will be
conducted to build/improve upon skills for everyone.
Training begins in September with "dry land" practices
and weight lifting sessions of which you can attend when possible.
The season begins the weekend before classes start in Januaryy.
The team also conducts an annual winter training camp.
Team dues are $85 and will be collected in September. These team
dues include conference & national dues, practice & racing
fees, but not lift tickets or equpiment rentals. Dues also help
to cover the cost of some lodging and various social events we hold.
Fundraising efforts will also help offset the costs of lodging and
social events.
Places we practice and race include Crystal Ridge, Alpine Valley,
Wilmont, Lacrosse Mt, Chestnut Mt, Sunburst, and Marquette Mountain.
Most hills have a nice board park and varied terrain for all ability
levels. |
