Marta and Mariajo will play in the Brazil Open which begins on Monday. Marta will play a qualfier in the first round while Maria Jose has to face a tough rival as she plays Henrieta Nagyova (Svk). Good luck both!
And by the way, Mariajo has won the silver medal at the Mediterranean games in doubles with Lourdes Dominguez (Esp) but she lost to the same player in the fight for the bronze medal 6-1 6-3. Anyway a good week and it was a good preparation for the Brazil Open.

Mariajo says goodbye too in this US Open 01. Mariajo and her partner Anabel Medina lost to american Frazier/ Schlukebir 4-6 6-3 6-2. With this defeated , Mariajo finished her american season with no wins. Anyway there are still lot of tournaments till the end of the season so good luck Marta & Mariajo in next tournament!!

Total disaster. As much Marta as Mariajo have not been able to surpass the first round of the tournament. Marta has been defeated by Iroda Tulyaganova 6-1 6-4 whereas Mariajo lost to Evie Dominikovic in a very easy straight defeat 6-1 6-1. Marta's run has finished in this US Open but Maria Jose has still to play the doubles tournament.

Marta & Eva Martincova have been defeated by Dawn Buth y Anousjka Van Exel in two sets 6-3 6-4. marta will be part just of the singles main draw in the US Open 2001.

All the draws for the last Grand Slam, the US Open,are done. In the singles draw Marta will face Iroda Tulyaganova (Uzb), a very difficult first round as Marta lost to Iroda on clay this year. María José on the other hand will have a theoric easy rival in the Aussie Evie Dominikovic, but she could meet Jennifer Capriati in the second round.
Marta will have to surpass the qualy round in doubles. She forms pair with Eva Martincova (Cze) and they will play Dawn Buth & Anousjka Van Exel (Usa/Ned) today. Mariajo & Anabel Medina are seed 12 and they will face in the first round of the main draw Amy Frazier & Katie Schlukebir both from Usa. Good luck girls!!

All is finished for the girls in New Haven. Marta, who made team with Andrea Glass from Germany, has lost in the qualy round. The team have been beaten for the southafrican players Kim Grant y Natahlie Grandin 8-4. In the previous round, the spanish and the german defeated Daja Bedanova (Cze) & Alicia Molik (Aus) 8-6. Next tournament for the "M" girls will be the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season.

Jelena Dokic & Nadia Petrova have finished with the participation of Maria Jose in the tournament. Mariajo has been beaten with Anabel Medina 6-1 6-4. Only Marta left in the doubles draw. ¡Animo Marta!

Maria Jose & Anabel Medina are the 4th seed in the doubles draw and they will play Jelena Dokic from Yugoslavia and Nadia Petrova from Russia in the first round. On the other hand Marta, who plays with german Andrea Glass, has to pass the qualy round, where the team will face Bacheva & Molik in their first match.
