Hello
my name is Beth Profeta. I want to thank you all for giving me the opportunity
to be here today and be my mothers voice, My mom, Mary Badaracco, disappeared
without a trace on August 20, 1984, from her new dream home in Sherman, CT.
She was only 38 years old, and she's the victim of an unsolved homicide, she
is among the states cold cases. It seems my mother’s voice has been forgotten
for 19 years, her rights seem to have been trampled upon and forgotten, so I
stand here before you and I will be her voice. I am here today to make sure
our voices are heard, Please listen very carefully to each and every survivor
of a homicide, we are all left behind to do our very best to pick up the shattered
pieces of our lives and share our stories with all of you today……? Our loved
ones were victims of a vicious crime and this needs to be recognized, actually
we need more than that- we need action. I’m also proclaiming that I will never
give up my quest for Justice nor will I stop being my moms voice - at least
not until she is found and given a proper burial. This is the very least that
my mother deserves and I will never let her case be forgotten, as my moms remains
have never been found, the fact that she is rotting somewhere, is torture for
me. I know nothing more today than I knew 19 years ago, I am stuck in the beginning
stage of the grieving process, and I suffer daily because of this tragedy. As
does my family when I am having an especially tough time trying to deal with
the facts., whether it be due to frustration that I honestly don’t know how
close we are regarding her case or if I am just missing my mom, A mom is the
very most important member of any family and mine has been violently torn out
of our lives. The State of Connecticut was mom’s state too - she was born, raised
and murdered in this state, does anyone think the perpetrators are suffering?
No one has been charged yet, so I think not. I hope and pray with all that I
am that my mom haunts her killers daily until the day they confess, I need answers,
and I need closure. If you look around, you will see there were many homicide
victims this year and way too many of us survivors, I BEG OUR LAW MAKERS to
listen to all of our voices today, Give our law enforcement the tools in which
they need to make us all safer! We desperately need to change the laws in our
state involving violent crimes we need to set an example for our country. Somehow
and somewhere we need to find more money and allocate it to getting tough on
criminals. So that maybe, someday no one else’s daughter, or loved one will
ever have to go through all of the pain that we have endured.
