What was the first thing that came to your mind when you saw that word?
Most will say something about the freedom we have here in America compared to other nations. Some that are changing faiths will have a different answer. No matter who you are, or what you believe we each are free from something. After all, freedom means you have a choice in something. Choice with wisdom is a pearl of great value.
To me it is not what I can get away with, but great precious promises I have been granted by our Heavenly Father.
In the past I have listened to people that were very excited over doing something. Before they had been told that it was
wrong, and now they are told it is 'ok'. They used the words that they were 'free' now to do this. Many times they had been told wrong. They followed someone else on a path that was wide and easy to walk on.
The greatest freedom I can ever remember was when I was set free from the penalty of the sins I had committed! I was pardoned! Found no longer guilty of any of them. Set free! I had been granted the freedom to 'boldly' go into the throne room at any time! Why there is no place on earth comparable to that. I had to promise to not return to the old way of life. My life was His now. Yet it was not bondage.
When I look around at the world I see so much suffering, fear, and misery. These people are not free from these things, they are with them daily. Yet we see words in the scriptures we can have freedom these things 'IF' we do what the one that gave us life tells us to do. If I bought something that the instructions told me not immerse in water as electrical shock and possible death could occur, I take care of how I handled it. I sure would not get in water with it! No less is true when my Creator, the one who holds my very life in His hands, gives me rules. He tells me I am free from things 'if' I go by the instruction book He gave to me.
