Drawbacks?
None really, I've used one for 14 years without ever cutting the cord. Commercial models are expensive and use carbon brushes, but are improving. Electric tractors are not currently in production, GE used to make a battery powered riding mower which cut 3 acres on a charge. Reduces sales of mower manufacturers since they last longer. Don't be fueled!
