| Manager Talk- This season was J.Mattimoe's most successful year ever. In my eyes the year 97/98 had the best squad of players available and also the best local competition around. This made the seasons achievements all the more great and unbelievable. The seasons end table is shown below- 1st- Wilcon Wanderers- Pld- 18 Won- 15 Draws- 0 Lost- 3 Pts- 45 Goals For- 139 Goals Against- 84 2nd- McClean (the cleaners)- Pld- 18 Won- 3 Draws- 0 Lost- 15 Pts- 09 Goals For- 84 Goals Against- 139 The season was made great for a number of reasons. This team was united in every way as only Wilconers themselves will know. Wilcon as a team are unstoppable with huge talent is present in a number of players. These players include the manager J.Mattimoe a founding father of the now Wilcon traditions and team. W.Pollard as our winger, penalty taker and also most of all, our Club Captain. M.Mattimoe as a superb prolific goal scorer in his own right. D.Pollard the hard working, hard tackling midfielder and also one of the founding fathers of Wilcon. M.Pollard as the best young player in the squad and my preferred choice of the future Wilcon manager in the year 2003/04. Also the performances of excellent star goalkeeper S.Pickford and defender Sean Fothergill who is known for his drastic tackling and wild behaviour have both been in class form throughout the season. In conclusion to this season, I believe no wilconer will ever forget what happened at their young stages of their lives in year 97 because it was "unbelievable". |
