Your combination is a secret, which is for a key lock on the door.  It has a door key and a small key which unlocks another box in the hall closet in a red locked box which stores the extra keys.  (Long story – has to do with avoiding paying $20.88 to get keys at the desk).  It is a good idea to leave a key in the door so when you are at the beach you don’t have to bring a key that might get lost – and then you won’t have to pay a lock-out charge.

Maui Condo & Home are the on-island agents.  I deal mainly with Jamie (808) 879-5445 in case you need them.  There are beach chairs and beach mats in the hall closet downstairs as well as beach toys and coolers – even beach towels if they haven’t sprouted legs.  Please be courteous about rinsing off the dreaded sand by the pool so that you won’t end up with clogged plumbing.  And please smoke outside and your guests because we can’t clean that odor out of the couches and drapes and it just makes it nice for everyone else.

For car rental Budget seems to have a good rate for Airlines – or for AARP members $176/week…bring your confirmation number or they will charge $243!  If you have no “bennies” for discounts, and you don’t mind a used car, Kihei Rent-a-Car has operating cars with air conditioning – and they will pick you up at the airport and drop you (no extra charge) for $150.95+ a week plus no extra charge for second drivers.  They also have new cars – top rate I think is $199/week.  Their phone number is (808) 879-7257.  I would not suggest using Good Karma, or as I call it, Bad Karma, who also advertises used rentals, because they usually are on their last legs and break down and leave you stranded for hours, or if it’s after hours, you are stuck – not to mention if you turn the car in exasperation, they charge full pop $30/day!  Kihei Rent-a-Car will pick up the phone after hours, so that is not a problem.

One important housekeeping matter.  We have been fined $25 each occurrence for water dripping out of the container from the bedroom air conditioner.   We will be forced to backcharge you this fee in the future.  Please empty it when it gets close so that it doesn’t create a safety hazard.    Any other household complaints, call Maui Condo & Home, cleaning, et cetera.  I live in California, so I can’t run over for remedies and I won’t necessarily know what is wrong (until I’m billed, usually).  We pay a huge amount for cleaning - $95 and a $35 “prep” fee….so it should be clean – or complain!

Have a great time – and don’t forget the lotion!
