What is it about?

Marmalade Boy is essentially about a high school girl named Miki, her relationships, her friends, and her odd family. You see, the show begins when Miki's parents return from a vacation in Hawaii and announce to her that they have some good news - they are getting divorced! They fell in love with another couple in Hawaii, and now they are going to get divorced and re-marry the other couple. Miki is (understanably) a little upset. Her parents get her to come to a dinner so she can meet the other couple and their son, Yuu. Yuu is Miki's age, so she hopes to get him on her side against this new marriage idea. But at the restaurant Yuu (who, Miki is surprised to discover is very good looking) seems fine with the arrangement! When Miki declares that (even though her parents are a little strange) she still doesn't want to live apart from either one of them, the four adults announce that they are going to buy a house where all six of them will live together! (In Japan there's no such thing as step-brothers and step-sisters, so not only will Miki be living with FOUR parents, she'll also be living with cute a boy her age! A strange family indeed).
If this all sounds a little too strange for you, don't worry. The show isn't so much about their parents (often refered to on the web as the "odd quad") but instead it is about Miki and Yuu and falling in love and a bunch of other things. It's kind of like a soap opera (only not as cheezy, and not so much bad acting) with a lot of relationships and heart-wrenching storylines, etc. It's also very funny, sweet, and incredibly addicting!
