Chapter 3
The ride had been boring so far. The land was barren, without trees and even passing sagebrush. Queen Sabbrielle had been gone for some time on a sort of diplomatic mission. Two neighboring kingdoms were caught up in a territorial dispute and she had barely prevented war from breaking out.
It had been hours since she left. A queen can't do many things for real fun, as it would be improper.
So she had sat in her personal caravan just staring at the ceiling.
"Moony, stop the cart."
"Yes your majesty," came a young woman's voice.
Sabbrielle got out of the fur covered cart and took a deep breath of fresh air. Looking around, she saw a knight on a horse headed toward them.
"Hello there knight!" she called.
"And hello to you fair queen."
"What news is it that you bring to me?"
"I'm afraid it isn't news that will bring you any joy. The Secret Adobe will be under attack shortly."
"What? My kingdom, under attack? And what of my husband?"
"I have not yet reached the castle to warn him."
"Go on ahead! My guards will bring me as fast as possible. Please, warn them."
"It is not man who attacks. No army of men could do the damage they have done."
"Go! And be quick! The safety of our kingdom depends on it!"
